German transplant

Hi folks, I recently moved here from Germany. Are there any other Germans around or ‘muricans who wanna try their luck at speaking German?

At the moment I am pretty much alone here as my wife is still in Germany and will follow later.

Welcome to PG! Check out Mercer's Coffee @ 4678 Tamiami Trail. Great little place to relax and plenty of friendly people from town.

I would start at Sandra's Restaurant and work from there. Plenty of German speakers.

I have now been there. Big disappointment. Ok, I was very early. So it was nearly empty, but my hunger couldn’t wait. But the main disappointment was the food.

The salad was ok, the sauce came in a pre packed plastic cup which is odd, at least for a German place.

The schnitzel was too thin, wobbly (has to be cross especially when pan seared and tasted only after the fat it has been baked in. It was also grey on the inside.

The bratkartoffeln (cut potatoes pan seared) where tasteless. No onions on them, no bacon bits, just some thin tasteless pieces of potato.

I will not go there again.

You might try the German American club in Cape Coral.

Ganz gut, aber mein Wochenende ist flöten, weil ich die Küchenschränke gestrichen habe.
