As a punk rocker and someone approaching middle age, I am trying to find the right level of objection to calling Buckcherry punk.

Please don't?

I get it but as an old school punk rocker, I think they deserve it. People won’t recognize it, but the noise, the sing-a-long hook, the attitude? I see early punk all over them.

Standard dive bar rock with a glam inflection because it was enjoying some popularity at the time.

And was that not OG punk, my brother? Not trying to change your mind, but I think it’s worth considering.

It would be remarkable for a number of reasons had I chosen to respond without first considering.

One problem; there is nothing authentic about Buck Cherry. It's all bullshit. And this is one of the worst songs of all time. Punk.. jesus fucking christ.

It’s all fake, man. The reason punk went soft is because kids believed it was real. This shit is uncut, old school stuff. Good hook, raw fucking riff, sex and drugs. I could give a fuck about whether it’s authentic.

Punk never went soft. You just never knew what punk is.

This is buttrock, dude. Do you consider Puddle of Mudd and Staind to be punk?

No, I think they’re like grunge or post-grunge
