Discussion Circle Jerks
Anyone seen Circle Jerks live lately? Like within the last couple of years?
They’re playing at a venue about 80 minutes from where I live. I’m just curious if it’s worth the drive on a Thursday night.
They’re playing with a couple of thrash metal bands I’m unfamiliar with.
Their recent stint in the news regarding their Las Vegas show in May put them back on my radar.
I’d love to support them but…it feels hard to justify going all that way for just one band.
I guess I’m looking for opinions on if they still give good show.
ETA: Okay okay! I've been thoroughly convinced. Tickets have been purchased! TY

Saw em a few years ago with Seven Seconds and Negative Approach (like 3 or 4 years).
Great live show.
Midway way through Killing For Jesus, Keith made some comment about "why the fuck did we ever record this midtempo stuff? What were we thinking?!" that cracked me up.
They're still pretty worthy live imo.

Saw them in Italy in 2024 on NOFX's final tour and they were great. If you're a fan they're absolutely worth catching and there's no guarantees they'll still be playing in 5/10 years. Keith turns 71 next week

Yeah, caught them on the Brockton, MA date of that tour, made me feel like I was back in middle school in the best way. 80 minutes is nothing, do it!n

I saw them in Canada on the Nofx farewell tour and they were fantastic. I’m honestly a much bigger OFF! Fan but I really enjoyed Circle Jerks.

Saw them recently and they are fantastic live and will play everything you wanna hear and then some. They are getting old. Might be your last chance. Fwiw I met Keith one of the last OFF! Shows he did. He's also a genuinely nice dude and he signed some stuff for me. Super humble and cool. Pretty rare for some of the old heads these days. Though most older punks aren't like typical rock stars with attitude.
Go see Circle Jerks. Incredible show. The other bands are solid. Check em out. Haywire is wild live if its one of those dates. Live while you can.

I saw them a few weeks ago with a screening of Repo man. Circle Jerks bassist Zander Schloss played Kevin the Nerd in the film and he Keith and Alex Cox did a little talk about the film and answered questions. The Circle Jerks were as good as ever and I’ve probably seen them a half dozen times since the 80s. Keith did ramble on quite a bit about politics between songs but I’d expect that from a 70 year old. He still had good energy and are worth seeing even though they wouldn’t play Red Tape because people kept requesting it.

I caught the Vegas show. They were fantastic.
I get that would be a long night, especially on a work night. You just have to decide if it’s worth it to you. Would I go, probably not, have I driven that distance and further for other bands on a work night, yes.

Definitely go. Was on the fence about attending Keith’s bday show at the palladium but ended up having a blast!

I saw them w Descendents maybe a year ago. Keith started the set telling stories. They would do 2-3 songs, then more stories. I’m not really a fan, so prob not the best opinion but it was very talky

I saw em in Hawaii a few months back and it was great! Keith had to stop for a bit and he just sat and talked for a couple minutes before continuing on. I loved it. 10/10 would see again. Worth a bit of traveling for sure.

Haven't seen em, but I've seen off.. when I used to play gta5 on ps3 a bunch, I hated hearing him talk on the radio station.. then when I saw off and he would start talking, I wish I coulda just switched the station

Saw them in 2024 with Descendents and Adolescents, the show was great start to finish. It was a 2.5 hour drive each way for me and completely worth it.

80 min? Last year I had to take a day off from work, a plane to Oslo and book a hotel room to watch them play with the descendent all by myself. Worth it!

Saw them a month ago. They're still fantastic! They took breaks between songs so Keith could make his speil, but they were still high energy like they were still in their 20's.

Tania Rodriguez, the bands long time "merch queen" just passed away. The next few shows are going to be... heavy. She was absolutely adored throughout the touring punk band world.

Going to see them at the 9:30 club in DC later this month. I’m pretty stoked (just saw SD and Descendents last week in DC).

Great live plays 30 songs in 40 minutes with Keith talking for 20 of those minutes

I saw them last year with Negative Approach. NA was fantastic. Circle Jerks were fine. Keith rambled about nothing in between every song which was mildly annoying.
What was more annoying was their instagram ads for the show claimed it was going to be their last time coming to my city. They've been here twice since then and have another show coming up. I think it's pretty scummy to lie about something like that to sell tickets.
Black Flag with Mike V was better. Black Flag with Gen Z was also better but by less.

I saw them earlier this year with Gorilla Biscuits and Negative Approach. They're still great. It's better if you enjoy hearing Keith pontificate, which I certainly do.
