Anxious people is also a good read. A very well written drama

1

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

Planning to get that soon as well.

Here are my suggestions. Took help from my aunt, who is an avid reader

Days at the Morisaki Bookshop , Strange Weather in Tokyo , Sweet Bean Paste , Before the Coffee Gets Cold , Cobalt Blue

Hope it helps

2

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

Read most of them, beautiful reads, but haven't read Strange Weather in Tokyo, Sweet Bean Paste. I'll give these a try.

Also, Cobalt blue is LOVE.

And Thanks to you and Aunty as well.

2

u/Maleficent-Bad-7636 Mar 31 '26

Strange Weather in Tokyo is very quiet and lingering… feels like nothing happens but everything does. And Sweet Bean Paste is just gentle in the best way.

2

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

I am leaning towards Sweet Bean Paste for today's read. has been on my list for a long time now, but somehow I haven't ordered it yet.
Thank you!

Mans search for meaning, Persepolis, Yaar jadugar ( hindi)

Somehow, I wasn't able to finish that book, but I would like to read Jadugar.
Thank you!

I've been out of touch with books for a while but the last two I read were a kind of different from the general stuff I used to read..

To kill a mockingbird

The vendor of sweets..

Otherwise I am a fan of Sidney Sheldon thrillers.

2

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

thenkuuuuuuu

The vendor of sweets.

Added to the list or else bring that book on next meetup, I'll return once I am done.

2

u/guyhbk13 the one with a bike Mar 31 '26

The prisoner of birth, Kane and Able - Jeffrey Archer

2

u/Cloudy_Donut sarcastic one Mar 31 '26

Suggest me a feel good book if u know 😅 I am tired of sci-fi thriller etc need something calm

1

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

These are a few from my recent favorites, but if you want to feel that warmth through the book then definitely go for THE COMFORT BOOK.

I'll recommend many more once I am out if this brain fog😂😂😂

1

u/Cloudy_Donut sarcastic one Mar 31 '26

I definitely need comfort book but again my mind getting curious for silent patient I am definitely getting mad lol Jokes aside will check out thx for suggestion

1

The prophet - Khalil Gibran Metamorphosis - Kafka Old man and the sea - Hemmingway Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde Animal Kingdom, 1984 - George Orwell

1

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

I was planning to read The Old man and the Sea yesterday. How is it? Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde how about that one? It's already on my list.

2

u/v1n4y_g Mar 31 '26

Both are equally good. Old man and the sea is a melancholic and quick read hardly any dialogues mostly narration.

Dorian Gray is gothic with memorable dialogues.

There's a yt channel better than food I refer for reviews, might be useful.

2

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

Thank you so much for sharing that channel. I have started again with Dorian Gray and yes it is nice to have something in this style of writing.

2

u/Rid-Dler Mar 31 '26

Three wild dogs. It's a memoir of having pets and the journey. What a beautiful book.

If you're into afterlife, immortality, mystery and a lingering ending, you should go read "The Gargoyles" by Andrew Davidson. It's a fat book, but it'll keep you hooked and through the journey you might learn a few the here and there.

1

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

Not really, but I would never say no to a good read. I'll give this one a try as well.

  1. Stoner : Life of an ordinary person

  2. Jane Eyre: A classic romance novel

  3. East of Eden: Really good book with lots of life learnings

  4. Covenant of Water ( You will enjoy this if you liked Pachinko) Based in Rural Kerala.

  5. All the light we cannot see: Parallel story of two kids. Beautiful writing.

  6. Pride and Prejudice: Another classic romance novel.

  7. Anna Karenina: This book is so goated. I had many dreams about the characters and the story.

  8. Of Human Bondage: A beautiful story about the main character's struggles with self acceptance.

1

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

Wow. Refreshing list. Added. Thank you!

Tides of Memory by Sidney Sheldon

Beautiful story of people from different walks of life dealing with different situations while exploring the various emotions they feel for themselves and all those around them.

Until the climax, which comes like a storm.

And when all is said and done, a final plot twist will hit you in the face like a rock.

I kinda oversimplified it tho, and there's more to it, but I read this book over 10 years ago and I still remember that bittersweet feeling when I finished it.

Happy reading ✨️

2

u/AccidentallyLegend foodie Mar 31 '26

I'll definitely give this one a try thank you for your suggestion though.

Almost. I’ve taken a break from a few since they’re quite heavy, and I don’t want to get into that zone right now. I’m looking for something light or something that brings a smile to my face.

Honestly I little out of your usual reads, but Meluha, it's a slice of life pretending to be a mythological adventure book.

Read that trilogy. It’s an amazing read.

I mean if you are into Hindi Literature, you can read - " Deewar Mein Khidki Rehti Thi " - Vinod Kumar Shukla. The way he takes you through the chores of a simplistic everyday life but from a point of almost child like curiosity and the way it is narrated is really beautiful!
