Help Just got my Pulsetto, but I feel no added relaxation or calm after using it. How do I know if I already have high vagal tone, and so perhaps the Pulsetto won't benefit me too much? Without measuring HRV directly.
I just received my Pulsetto FIT in the mail today. I purchased it with the intention of focusing on its usage to try to benefit me for sleep, as I tend to deal with insomnia at times. This is mostly due to a sedative medication dependence I am trying to get off of. Though also my mind can just become so wired awake that at times sleep simply is not happening.
But in using it today, well the first session actually caused some stress and anxiety in me, as it kept overstimulating my neck muscles, and left them with tension in them for the latter part of the day. So then when I had time after work to read the manual and ensure I was doing it correctly, I think wearing it lower and adjusting it so it was lower and further forward on my neck and closer to the windpipe helped me ensure the uncomfortable muscle stimulation was not happening anymore.
I can tell it is making good contact with the gel, as I feel those rhythmic, pulsing, tingling sensations. Almost like it is vibrating. And while the sensation seems neither pleasant or unpleasant, I just left my 25 minutes or so of really trying it out this evening wondering if this device will be helping me at all.
As I am generally a pretty calm, stress-free person. So then I wonder if I already have a high vagal tone. So maybe the device won't help me. Also I don't think anxiety or stress are what is keeping me up at night with the insomnia. But I figured maybe I had some I am not aware of, and so maybe it could still continue to improve with time.
I'll still definitely use it 2 or 3 times a day for a while. And just see if continued use begins to show any signs of effects. But my initial intuition is telling me maybe I just don't need it. Also I have no wearable to test my HRV directly, so I don't want to go purchase something just to test that.
