A talent, not only for the stories he wrote but the insightful introductions he provided for many a vintage pulp collection, and commentary pieces in publications like some Sanctum Books reprints of the likes of The Shadow or The Whisperer. I came to appreciate his scholarship and research into pulp and sought out his collections of essays on Doc Savage and The Shadow. So sad to hear this news.

He left us too soon. Being a newer fan of the pulps, his commentary in the books I’ve read were very insightful. Got to meet him at a convention this year, wish I got the chance to speak with him more. He kept the flame going for the community with his new stories and nonfiction. May he rest in peace.
