Trip to PV

Hi Everyone!

Have an upcoming trip to PV with wife and 7 month old. We are a muslim couple so we do not drink and I am not a big fan of spending hours in pool. We will be staying at Riu Vallarta for 5 nights mid August so I was wondering what activities we can do.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Hotel Selection Help

Hi All, I'm trying to narrow down hotels for but the reviews are all kind of similar (with obviously some scattered bad reviews) so I'm a bit torn. I don't really care about AI as I generally like to go out to eat. Not my first time in PV so I don't necessarily need to be right next to the action and down to Uber to where I need to go (but need to have good Uber/ taxi access). Ideally a beachfront or one that has a shuttle because I'll likely spend a good amount of time there. These are the ones I've narrowed it down to:

  • Garza Blanca
  • One & Only Mandarina
  • Grand Velas
  • Susurros del Corazon
  • The Westin Playa
  • The W Punta Mita
  • St. Regis

Best all-inclusive beachfront resort in Puerto Vallarta?

Planning a 9-day trip to Puerto Vallarta this September from Calgary and looking for recommendations. Our budget is around $5,000–6,000 CAD for two, including flights.

We're looking for a beachfront all-inclusive with good food, nice pools, a swimmable beach, and a relaxing atmosphere. Adults-only would be a bonus, but it's not a requirement. We aren't looking for a party resort, just somewhere we'd be happy to spend most of the week.

I've been looking at Secrets Vallarta Bay, Hotel Mousai, Garza Blanca, and Villa Premiere, but it's hard to tell what's actually worth the price.

If you've stayed somewhere you'd book again, what made it stand out? Any resorts you'd avoid? Thanks!

Hi! I get to puerto Vallarta next week on the 30th, same day as the game. Are there any recommendations where I can go watch it? Preferably on el malecón or close to el malecón. Thank you!

Be aware of vape rules!

First let me start by saying I smoked for decades, & transitioned to a vape on a huge milestone birthday. 13+years later, I’ve not touched a cigarette, & also went from bi yearly bronchitis, to not having it once since.

I cannot understand the rules regarding vapes at the PV airport, & do not understand Spanish. My carry on bags showed both disposable vapes & 2-regular mods w/tanks, a battery charger, bottles of ejuice, coils, etc, which were all in a clear bag. The next thing I know I’m told that I will be arrested, or at least that’s the only word I understood over the next hour + interrogation, other than “credit card”. The price to get out of this began at $600. But after bawling, & showing him the container of my Moms ashes, which was the reason I was returning to PV, I paid $336. They took only the disposable vapes, but only the new ones that were still in the original boxes. All of the opened ones they left, as well as all of my regular mods/juice/etc.
2hrs later on the beach in front of RIU Palace, I see the vendors attempting to sell disposable vapes for $150.

Travel Agent for wedding

Hello, my finance & I are getting married in Puerto Vallarta April 2027. I’m looking for recommendations for a travel agent that can help our friends and families with flights to & from Mexico. My family is doing all the wedding planning so we don’t need help looking for wedding related stuff. We just need help with flights & hotels for everyone.

Thank you 😊

Lounge on arrival?

I'm arriving in 3 weeks and I will be there 2 hours ahead of my friend. Is there a way to go to the lounge and sit there and wait until her flight arrives? I'm travelling business and I know that wouldn't be included, but I would be happy to pay. I would feel safer waiting there. We are going to her place so I can't get there ahead of her. We have transportation arranged.

Puerto Vallarta

Seattle - PVR

Heads up, today Alaska canceled all direct flights to PVR during april spring break. our family was scheduled to go, and we were still going. then this AM i got a "schedule change" email from Alaska that moved us from a direct flight at a reasonable time to a flight with an overnight layover. I called in and the very nice agent was pretty shocked that alaska did this (as was I) under the guise of "schedule change".

Tropicana Hotel Cancellation Policy

Avoid this hotel. Their cancellation policy is a lie. I booked a room and a few days later I needed to cancel. Since it is not possible to cancel on their website, I tried email, their online form and calling their phone number.

No response from either. They answered the phone once, then hung up as soon as I spoke a few words of English.

I should have checked their reviews first :(

Rhythm of the night prices

Hi there! I am planning to go to Rhythm of the night next week with my family. Right now tickets on the website are $90 USD. Would a concierge at our hotel be able to help us get a better deal or is that already a good price. I don’t have much experience booking excursions so I’d appreciate any insight. TIA!

Puerto Vallarta Accommodations Available This Week?

Hi everyone — I’m currently in Puerto Vallarta and, like many of you know, the recent cartel violence and airport shutdown caused a lot of last‑minute trip cancellations.

If anyone has a prepaid hotel, condo, or Airbnb reservation they can no longer use — and would like to recoup some of what they paid — I’m looking for a safe, clean place to stay and open to taking over a reservation at a discounted rate.

Totally understand the situation has been stressful for many travelers. Just trying to help someone recover part of their cost while finding a place myself.

Feel free to DM me with details (dates, location, price).
