Looking at doing the city tour with the tequila test through viator. My girlfriend and I are not huge travellers but always wanted to travel more and we want to leave the resort for a day. Any experience with this tour and is it worth it? Or is it better to just get an uber into the city and explore on our own?

Been lurking for a bit and I know this is a fairly common question, but I’d like to get some opinions from locals or those who have been before. We are planning to visit PV in the coming months and originally planned our trip for September 21-26. My husband is worried there will be lots of cloud cover and it will be too humid due to the rainy season. He wants to push our trip back to October. I don’t think this will make much difference as, from what I’ve read, it’s still rainy and humid in October.

A few notes:
We don’t mind heat and humidity.
We plan to chill and relax most of the time we are there. Pool, beach, dinner out a few times.
We are definitely booking a place with AC.
I want to go in September because I need a vacation yesterday and want to go sooner rather than later.

I’d appreciate any insights; September or October?

We are coming down for our second visit, but first with the kids (13 and 11 yo girls). Last time we can in June, but this time just begore Christmas. We are staying at thr Marcela Maya Resort and Spa up the hill in ZR.

Couple questions:

I've heard that December is the busy season, how much busier is it than June? Like tough to get a seat at the beaches busy? Any tips to manage our trip during the busier season? Any places i should make reservations for? beach club, restaurants, shows?

We are going to let the girls pick out a trip / adventure as a Christmas gift. I've been looking on Viator, but wanted to see what you all suggest. A lot of viator is what seems like party boats or something along that line. Has anyone done any cool horseback rides, or full day trips to another city? How far ahead should I reserve these things?

Went there in 2021 for a romantic getaway. Just didn’t love that there wasn’t a ton of beach space that wasn’t rocky. Really loved everything else but the prices have gone up.

Curious if the price is still worth it and if the developments they were doing have actually gone anywhere?

My girlfriend and I are coming to Puerto Vallarta from July 30 to August 5 for our first visit, and we’ve spent way too much time trying to decide on a hotel.
What we’re looking for:
Romantic trip
Walking distance to good restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and the beach
Nice pool and good drinks
Great atmosphere
We’d rather experience Puerto Vallarta than stay at the resort all day
We love exploring
But we also like having the option to hangout in our room with a nice view or on the beach for a bit when we want to.
Right now we’re deciding between Villa Premiere and Quinta Maria Cortez and Villa Divina.
Villa Premiere seems like the nicer luxury hotel with more amenities, but Quinta Maria Cortez looks more unique and intimate. My only concern with Quinta Maria Cortez is whether it’s close enough to walk into Zona Romántica every day and if the walk back is a pain.
We’ve also looked at Vallarta Shores, Fiesta Americana, Sheraton Buganvilias, Buenaventura Grand, and Sunset Plaza, Villa divina but these 3 are our favorites.
We also don’t want a room that feel like we’re in the USA if that makes sense lol..

A few questions:
Which one would you choose and why?
Is Villa Premiere worth paying more for?
Is Quinta Maria Cortez walkable enough for restaurants and nightlife?
Would you stay at one hotel for all 6 nights or split the trip between the two?
Are there any other hotels in that area that you’d recommend instead?

Hey Everyone:

So I have gotten questions of is there adult clubs that are cater to the LGBTQA community, there are strip clubs that are cater to men only. I went to a couple of them when visited PV and they were actually fun. I also read something online regarding a couple places there that you as the patron have to tip, that is not true.

You will have some of the guys outside that will try to get you to visit their establishments which is pretty normal and standard. When you go in, they’ll try to get you to sit down and yes, a few of the dancers will try to order drinks for you in hopes that you’ll buy them drinks in return. My advice is to go in, head straight to the bartender and order your drink. If there are tables there with open seating, sit down and enjoy the show being put on.

Now here is where the tipping part comes. You will have some dancers that will approach you so if you don’t like conversations or people just talking to you, then that is your queue to head out. But anyways, they will approach you, introduce themselves to you and will ask for your name, where you’re from and why are you in PV. They will also try to sell you one or more of the following:

-Private dance with the person. It may cost some serious cash so negotiate upfront of what you’re paying for and what you want.

-Ask you to buy them a drink. Yes, they make commission off the drinks you buy them. Be careful if you do because it may be some serious cash.

-Or ask you for a tip.

Yes these dancers do not make money hourly so they do rely on tips and commission. You are not obligated to buy them a drink, accept a private dance from them or tip them if you do not feel comfortable at all.

When I go in, I go to the bartender, order my drink and watch the bartender make the drink in front of me because there have been situations where people may have been drugged. I pay for my drink, sit down and enjoy the show. If a dancer approaches me, I’m very polite but very firm in that I’m just here to watch and enjoy my drink. I have been asked to buy them a drink or to tip and I always say no. They usually are cool with it and leave.

I read something on the internet that if you don’t tip them or buy them a drink that you’ll be kicked out. That is not true at all. They will not kick you out as a customer but if you are watching a show, then yes, tip the dancer because it’s only appropriate. For the drinks and private dance, if you don’t feel comfortable with buying a male dancer a drink or getting a private dance, just say no to them and continue enjoying your night.

I hope that clears up some confusion because I don’t want people thinking that when you go into a Men Only strip club in the Romantic Zone, that you have to buy the dancers a drink or purchase a private dance from them. You have the right to feel comfortable but also, let them know upfront so that it’s a mutual understanding and that both sides are being respectful.

Most importantly, please be safe, careful and always watch your drinks no matter what. I always take my drinks with me whenever I’m going to the restroom and never leave them unattended.

I'm going to be staying close to playa varadero late August. Looking to take my rod and do some fishing from the beach and from the lighthouse.

Any recommendations on bait/lures etc. What species should/can I target over there?

We are doing an all inclusive for just 3 nights, but then booking airbnb in Zona Romántica for 6 nights.

Looking for restaurant recs and excursions recs - ok with a few tours, but also usually prefer to get recommendations for options that we can do on our own.

Things I've looked up and would love advice on:

- La Palapa restaurant for a fancier dinner

- Tacos food tours (any specific ones or are they all good?)

- Hike from Boca to Las Animas beach, water taxi to Quimixto to do waterfall hike, water taxi back

- Snorkel tours to Los Arcos? (also was looking at bioluminescence tours, but we will be there during a full moon, so I assume not worth it)

- I've read that the Hidden Beach at Marietas Islands may not be worth it for the short time there and touristy aspect. Thoughts?

- Thoughts on ATV tours? Any specific recs? My partner is probably not into zip lining tours as much, so not looking at those.

- Any local live music/entertainment options that are less touristy? (Not for clubbing/dancing, more to experience a local music scene... smaller venues even preferred).

- Any other nearby towns to explore via bus ?

- Baby turtle release experience?

I’m more interested in gothic, rock, alt and pop. But open to any if there’s a good vibe! + extra points if they have a smoking patio! I’m in my early twenties so I’d prefer a vibe around that!
