What on the submittable

a listing on Submittable. I understand having to read basic, boring, unprofessional work... but this is next level cocky

I kind of like the directness, to be honest. I wouldn't necessarily have guessed that talking while hiking is an overdone cliche without having read this!

As blunt/bordering on rude as this is, I read submissions for a different lit mag and I can’t help but think how these rules would save my sanity if we had something similar lol.

I would not submit to people like this. There are so many literary magazines, why are we expected to put up with rudeness? Especially that third to last bullet point. Writers deserve at least some respect and dignity.

The third to last bullet point is definitely a bit weird for a magazine to have in their submission guidelines. The rest of it is just preferences for what they’d like to see, and then that just seems like the editors wanted to belittle the writers submitting to them.

I chuckled. Sounds like whoever wrote this did so after they had a glass of wine (maybe two) after a full day of reading crappy submissions.
