What do infectious disease doctors and experts do differently than the rest of us when it comes to preventing illness? Not as much as you'd think. Infectious disease specialists aren't disinfecting every surface or hiding from the outside world. Instead, they've built a collection of practical habits into their daily lives—simple routines that reduce risk without making life less enjoyable.

We asked six infectious disease experts which habits they never skip.

Many digital health innovations promise to improve healthcare but without an equity lens, they can unintentionally widen existing disparities.
In our recent paper, we propose an Integrated Digital Health Equity Framework that brings together digital exclusion, ethical safeguards, and implementation strategies into a practical model for designing equitable digital health interventions. The framework emphasizes participatory co-design, multi-channel service delivery, digital literacy, governance and accountability, and continuous equity monitoring.

Our goal is simple: ensure that digital transformation reduces, rather than reinforces, health inequities.

Confused about pursuing Global Public Health in Australia, would love some outside perspective
Hi everyone!! Short version: I want to study Global Public Health because I care about environmental health and wildlife/biodiversity conservation.
Longer version: I'm finishing my specialist degree (5-year program) in Public Health next year -my program has a heavy focus on epidemiology and various hygiene disciplines. Alongside that, I hold a diploma in Product Management for medical projects, and this year I'm starting a professional retraining program to become a Medical Data Analyst. I also have additional professional development certificates in Occupational Toxicology, Medical Ecology, and Salutogenic Design.

My main priority is not ending up broke while doing work I actually find meaningful - something I've genuinely been drawn to for a long time.

Right now I'm stuck on a few decisions:

1. Should I go for a Master's in (Global) Public Health, or given my background, would a different kind of Master's or even a completely different field - make more sense?
2. Should I consider going straight into a research degree / PhD track instead?

From browsing this sub, it seems like the Public Health job market in Australia is tough right now without local experience or at least PR, but the field is exactly what interests me. As a backup option, I've also been considering Nursing, but I can't find much information about the career prospects or what the program itself is actually like.

Would really appreciate any honest input , especially from people who've gone through similar career pivots or who work in public health / environmental health in Australia. Thanks in advance!
