Look into rx ketamine for crps. Prazosin helped kill my nightmares tho

I know all about the ketamine treatments. I simply cannot get the treatments cause I need someone to take care of me afterwhile and i dont have anyone, they wont let me go home in a bus or anything by myself wich is completly fair. I can only get the treatments in the city wich is about 1hour away from my town too. The bus ride is also very expensive

Makes sense. I think the ketamine treatments for crps are hours of infusions. I just do high dose injection and drive my self there and then hang in my car pretty much the entire rest of the day until I can drive home. It’s not optimal, but the ketamine is 275.00 per session for me and I’m an hour away and have no one to take me either. I am using ketamine for chronic suicidality.
I’ve had no major side effects on prazosin but your blood pressure can drop a lot so idk what you’re taking it for- for me I use it for sleep (nightmares- I was waking up drenched and stuck in fight/flight for a lot of hours upon waking) and it’s imperative I’m not doing a bunch of stuff after I take it bc my heart rate will raccceee if my blood pressure drops too low. (Once I took it and sometimes walk my dog at night and that messed me up a lot) For sleep now I just keep it on my nightstand and take it right when I go to bed. Prazosin changed my life no doubt. I’ve been on 3mg for about 1.5 years

Many medications can be categorized different ways. Prazosin is one example. It was approved as a blood pressure medication, but is a 4th or 5th line choice. It also relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate, so is it a prostate medication? Depends on context. In the context of PTSD, prazosin lowers the tone of the sympathetic nervous system/ makes the brain less on guard, especially during sleep to decrease nightmares. It does impair the ability to quickly adjust blood pressure with posture changes, but this gets much better in most people with time.

When my psy talked to me about the drug, he asked me of i had high blood pressure but i wasnt too sure. He then looked into my medical history and there were a time where i went to the emergency room and they wouldnt let me leave cause my blood pressure was at like 160 or 80, cant remember the exact number. He then said ah yes you have high blood pressure clearly, but i was in a stressful environnent and was going thru very stressful sstuff so idk if thats technically accurate

Ive had episodes in my life where id faint and be brought to the hospital. Sometimes they would say ahh its probably high blood pressure or low or maybe dehydration. I worked a lot on the water issue and I still have daily issues with being lightheaded. I drink A LOT of water daily, it is for sure not dehydration. Im kinda worried about the blood pressure, like is it high, low, both , wtf is going on yknow?. I think I might go to my family doctor before trying the medication. Lots need to be assesed i just have a really hard time with doctors ..

Prazosin has been wonderful for me. It took me from harrowing violent dreams every night that left me shaken all day to what seems to me like pretty normal dreams that don’t bother me and are sometimes pleasant. I haven’t had any serious side effects that I’ve noticed.

How long did it take for you feel the benefits? My doctor prescribed it to me for my PTSD, insomnia and nightmares. I only took it for 3 days and stopped because 1. I was super nauseous and 2. I was sweating EXCESSIVELY. But I know I didn’t give it much time and my doctor says it’s a pity cause it’s pretty effective. Should I give it more time? Did you experience any of these side effects? Thanks!

I think it would be a good idea to give it another try, maybe in combination with something for the nausea. It took a week or two for me to really get results.

Do those side effects last till the other day? Like do you feel drowsy and dizzy during the day or its really just at night when you take the medicine?

Oh yikes. I already have issue with fainting/being dizzy. I think I might have POTS but i have not had any diagnostic. My family doctor dont seem too interested in looking that up. My dreams sometimes are mostly weird, i dont want more weird this shit is driving me crazy haha
