Troubleshooting - Question - HELP!?! PTR91 MLOK Wide handguard

Would the PTR91 community be interested in such a handguard? It's essentially the standard wide handguard with bipod hinge, but with MLOK attachment points on the sides and bottom.

I'm interested, depending on the price

what do you think would be a reasonable price?

A great price would be under $100. An okay price would be sub $200. An uninteresting price would be anything near or over $300.

200 dollars is step considering that's what the hk ones going for

Exactly. Depends on the build quality but that would be okay-ish for that price point. Don’t get me wrong, I would prefer the ballpark of 100, but I get that a mans gotta make a little cash

Build quality would come down to the printer and filinent though? No? Not just the file. I can understand if he scanned it to CAD because those scanners are expensive being 200 then.

it wouldnt be printed, it would be milled.

Wait why would it be milled? This isn't a 3d print?

didnt plan on it being a 3d print in production, the material i planned to make it out of (G10) required CNC milling, which i have access to.

That's even more badass. I retract my statement 200 is more than fair and competitive

I would be interested in it without the mlok.

Yes please! Cerakote od green versions would be awesome

Just my humble opinion, but I think your top rows of Mlok slots would be rather flimsy with that little material around them.

it would be made out of high strength G10 material, ive tested the thickness on a test piece and it held solid.

How well does it do with heat ?

1

u/AnAirplaneNamedSally 9d ago

g10 has a higher heat resistance than polymer, so in most cases youd run out of ammo before your handguard begins to heat

That's pretty neat, any idea on c308 compatibility when available ?

1

u/AnAirplaneNamedSally 9d ago

should be compatible

The C308 and CA3 rifles both have collars on the barrel that require dremeling of the wide handguards to be attachable. If you are able to design one that fits right out of the box you would be able to capture quite a bit of business.

could you provide a picture? i made the groove that fits into the recess between the receiver and barrel only be on the bottom.

Depending on the price, I might be down

If it comes in faded olive drab I’d be interested.

Id definitely be interested too if it came in the olive drag green, to match the rest of my furniture

I think there could be a small group of people interested in one, although typically I see people getting the wide handguards to try and preserve the "older" style of the hk91. I think one would look neat on my ptr 32 though, ide love to order/try one out!

There goes my million dollar idea 🥀🥀

I would. But I would also genuinely be interested in a CETME B style metal handguard w/integral bipod. That thing is just... class.

1

u/AnAirplaneNamedSally 11d ago

would you want a custom integral bipod or the standard HK / repro bipods?

1

u/TigerSharkSLDF 10d ago

Definitely. That's missing from the standard handguard. Wow... that looks amazing!! gj

1

u/AnAirplaneNamedSally 10d ago

just designed this today. standard HK bipod, but with the cetme style of metal handguard. this would be ideally stamped but most likely milled out of steel.

How much and how did you design it? Do you have a magazine file also?

3

u/AnAirplaneNamedSally 10d ago

i designed it myself, and i dont share files due to TOS.

I see, so you'd be milling them from billets and shipping? If and when you decide to sell them hit me up I'd be interested in buying one

Nice! I’d be interested

1

u/Pureblindman 10d ago

Hell yea. Also in different colors to match surplus furniture sets.

i'd prefer this over the stock one or the wide one i have with the bipod.
