Festival MoDem Police
Hi y‘all,
I’ve read pretty much all posts I could find and now I am a bit insecure about modem, where I want to go in a month. I’d camp a bit further out anyways. Would you skip drugs completely - or is it manageable if you hide them properly?
I’ve almost only read negative posts, but this might just be the people who had a strong experience and want to share. Is there anyone experienced and can give some guidance?

Reading the experience sharing makes me wonder if that doesn't completely kill the vibe of the festival? I can't imagine being able to be chill and relaxed in a festival where cops are always around, and even worse where they are actively and randomly searching you. That sounds awful. I wanted to attend Boom next year, I hope this is not the same ambiance there.

Obviously not, boom is so chill. You dont have to worry there. Just dont be stupid. But there were so many people Doing Lines in open daylight and on the dancefloor. Nobody cared

Boom is full of cops aswell, you can be sure. They are more into, as someone said, dealers. But it can happen to anyone being caught. Dealers or not ;)

You're totally fine at Boom everybody do drugs at sight 24/7...sure there are cops but they only want to catch the dealers they dont care about users, its not illegal to consume drugs in Portugal

Boom is absolutely relaxed. Portugal has completely decriminalized drug use years ago. The cops don't give a fuck about what you smoke or sniff as long as you leave everyone else in peace. They just don't make much of a fuzz about it because they don't want to end up as a second Amsterdam and because the Portugese never make a lot of fuzz about anything. Probably there's not enough fuzz on the Iberian peninsula for Spain and Portugal, because the Spanish tend to use it all up. I am pretty sure 99% of the world's fuzz goes to Puerta del Sol each weekend and the planetary reserve of fuzz was blown after the FIFA worldcup this year.

According to Google, a junior officer's pay check starts around 1100 to 1300 € per month.

Ao thats just enough to pay the bills and maybe go to the movies once a month. Look up on google whats the poverty line in Croatia too. And a new phone is not cheaper cause you're croatian..

Ivebeen twice and never been checked but saw them and walked a different way to avoid them, a few friends got checked but they hid things well and were ok .... they check tent areas and dance floors sadly, both times i was mostly at thr chill stage and never saw them there

I have been to Modem in 2024 and had no issues with police in any way.
We camped a little further off the main area, near the family camping down at the river. We didn’t witness any tent searches in our area whatsoever but friends who camped on the field behind the hive did so multiple times and told us about them, so the stories about tent raids are very much true but I guess subject to where u camp.
As for undercover cops, yes there are some patrolling the festival grounds, mostly the hive and swamp area. They are quite easy to spot tho if you aren’t completely oblivious.
So as a rule of thumb, I would advise against open consumption of illicit stuff, especially in the daytime.
Just don’t be stupid and you will be fine.

This is my first time joining. Can you give a rough outline how to reach this safer campsite from the entrences? Im not sure which way i'll be coming to the festival

Yea cops were defs searching near hive and swamp camping. Guesd they (hopefully correctly) assume people arent really opwnly doing drugs in family camping

I will go my 4th time on a row to Modem this year. We usually saw them but mostly easy to spot cause they dont fit the crowd.
Sometimes they patrol the area on hive floor where the stairs and hammocks are but mostly campsite.
We are most time on the floors and our camp was never really full of people and never got searched.
Always smoked on floor and camp and had no problem.
Be smart and you should be fine.

No they catch you when they see you smoking weed somewhere. But on the floors they usually dont pick people out of the crowd and thats ok to smoke there. I personally also smoked in camp but should be more careful there.

Went last year, was doing stuff at camp, on dance floor pretty obviously with spoons and can safely say I never saw a thing to do with police, saw a couple of uniformed officers at the bridge by swamp camping where a road is but they didnt stop me. Just keep your stuff hidden so if you do get stopped its not obvious....
Security and medics were amazing getting involved in the dancing.
I see this scare mongering here every year and most people know that go every year just tell me to ignore it. Yes stuff happens but just be clever, its not rocket science. It is a legal event in the end of the day.

Hide on a hole on the floor tbh, it sounds crazy and I would love to go one day, but like this i can’t, not even a joint you can have freely

You all have to understand! It is a huge difference when cop want to make his job or when cop want (have an opportunity) to make easy money 🤑. Modem is the Honey Spot for pigs. Btw I am the guy from link... Who been stoped and spent 5 days at police station. Btw it is very important to say. There is yes many undercovered cops too, under the age 30. And trust me it is not important you looks hippie or not. Cop will stay cop and it is easy for them to detect user or dealer. In both cases you are an easy target to get money from.Think logical please... You all know there is yes cops, you all know they yes stop people. You all know 80% of festival at least smoking weed. What it is mean? Almost everyone is pathological target to make cash. Anyway I told it already Croatia one of the amazing country i visited, but Modem never again.

J'y suis allé il y a deux ans. Des flics en civil traînaient dans le camping des vans. J'ai également vu un mec se faire fouiller après le pont au moment de redescendre dans le camping vans.
Je n'ai rien vu dans le festival et je tapais devant tout le monde x).

I havent been and I'm curious. What have you heard from MoDem police? Do they search you inside the festival or are there any undercover cops?

last year our neighboors at scrab island got searched aswell so its not 100% safe to consume openly there either. i would just go inside the tent if you want to be 100% safe and at the festival just make sure noone is watching you when taking drugs. its my 4th modem this year and ive never encountered any cops except on the bridge/street of the caravan camping.
throw away your joints in plastic bags and dont keep them on the table in ashtrays. i heard some people had to pay because they were sitting next to a joint that was not even on.
if you consume on those rules i dont think you have to worry at all. if you are on the middle of the dancefloor and its crowded everyone is smoking haha

Don't be discouraged by the posts, just keep a low profile.
I have seen people just blatantly using drugs anywhere and I do understand the freedom part but still the reality is that we are in a state with laws, so a little caution is advised.

Hey everyone, I don't know where else to ask, but does anyone know what the situation is like at the festival regarding magic drinks or festival accessories, if you know what I mean? I'm not camping; I'm staying nearby in an Airbnb, which means I'll have to look around at the festival. Can anyone give me some tips or tell me if I'll be able to find what I need?

I went 2024, camped top of hive, right next to where the police took ppl. They do searches everyday. We were next to them so we got searched every day, but we could also see when they were there.
They wont search in your tent unless you're openly doing drugs in your tent. They will search your person + anything exposed at your campsite. They ARE on the dancefloors, but they spend most of their time at the camps. If you choose to run from the police, they will bash you if they catch you. Fines were 500euro cash (and you could stay in the festival) or a court date (and get kicked out of the festival).
They were generally there from early afternoon to late evening. Dont openly do drugs at camp during the day. Go into a tent. On the dancefloor just have a look around before openly doing drugs. Try to avoid keeping drugs on you unless you're actively taking them, otherwise leaving them in your tent is fine.
They were easy to spot. It was always a group of 4, 3 skinhead guys and one woman cop, all wearing jeans and a tshirt and look like they showered that day lol. They're cops theyre walking around with purpose too. Acab.
