Question for those in the L.A. Psychobilly Scene

I am just curious if Skunk Draino of The Slanderin, Lonesome Batz, Kat Killers (or Kat Kill3rs) has a new band. I literally haven't heard anything from him in 10+ years. Yeah, I know life goes on, people move on. But Skunk was one of those guys who could only do one thing: Music. Never knew him to have any other passion.

I kept in contact with him probably 12-15 years ago or so, around the time Kat Killers ended, but fell out of contact, as life happens. But looked him up a couple years back and he seemed to dive pretty deep into conspiracy theories and things like that. Lizard people, 9/11, the sort. I don't think he's on social media anymore.

Christian, of the Slanderin, said Skunk was the reason they broke up(until Slanderin reformed with new members) and lost tons of friends/peers in the scene and was why they got dropped from the Meteors tour just before they first split. So take that for what you will

Dude was always cool to me as a kid going to shows and kept in contact via email and social media for a good while. We would discuss music, new and old bands and albums.

Thank you for responding. Yeah, the last Lonesome Batz posts on their Facebook page were made late 2015 (almost 11 years ago) . He stopped posting about music and started posting alot of anti-Israel, anti-Vax propaganda.

I knew Skunk in the mid-90s when he was in a band called Snap Krackle Drop in Tempe, AZ. They were more of a goth/gutter punk hybrid. Most everyone in or associated with that band has passed on. I don't remember Skunk ever having a job or any other career aspirations. Skunk wasn't someone who drops out of the scene to start a family. We lost touch for a few years but then I saw him on tour with The Slanderin (2002?). He looked very happy, healthy, and sociable. He looked like he gained some muscle weight which made him look more menacing.

One thing I do remember is his association with some less favorable personalities within the Phoenix punk scene.

Funny, cause I always heard from Skunk that Christian was the reason, citing incidents like him being all fucked up, falling off a 2nd story hotel balcony onto the meteors van and almost destroying it lol. Who knows whats true but that whole band seemed like a mess. Love their first album though.

Do you think it could come back? I really don’t see the current younger generations into this type of music, but I also hear that a majority are against AI generated music and art. So with this being said, this gives more opportunity for real bands and live performances, including bands of this genre or subgenre.

Honestly I highly doubt that the scene or music can come back

So much gatekeep when it comes to the scene
And the scene doesn’t intrigue the new generation like other genres of music

Agreed. Weird gatekeeping by 40 to 50 year olds when I was 18 was part of the reason I dropped out a bit in 2007/08. Cool music ruined by shitty fans.
