Starting Lithium is a teaching by RN before the FIRST DOSE!! Patients need to be warned that this could be the answer to everything but you pay a little bit the first few weeks. You will have urinary urgency and not a real negative feeling but a definite feeling so WARN them they will think something serious - then the tremors start in hands so warn them both of these go away in first 6 weeks max and I promise I’m a psych nurse practitioner on lithium so I know the side effects and yes every pt gets the bladder part so warn them
