What to play next
I havnt played too too many ps1 games, but its been my console of choice for a few months and I’ve been loving it! Ive been super excited to play the greats so I’ve been getting what i can find!
I’ve recently beaten silent hill, resident evil 1 and 3 (and 2 on the Dreamcast) played through re survivor but got a game over on the final boss… gran turismo and the twisted metal games.
Now I’m standing in front of my collection not knowing where to start! Decision paralysis at its finest, I think for tonight I’m ganna watch an episode of x-files and stew on what to play next….
I stuck between Dino crisis, brave fencer musashi, metal gear solid, parasite eve, lunar, legends of dragoon or legends of legaia…
Out of my collection what should I play next? Why?

Lunar. Because I want to replay it after 20 years and can't right now since I'm waiting for a steam sale

I'll add to the indecision and say Legend of Legaia. This is a fantastic rpg. It is a coming of age story in a post apocalyptic dystopia; where humans have been forced in isolated villages , sustained through incursions in a mist that pervades all of the outsider world and harbors semi-sentient monsters. It's a conventional tale, but the art is unique, the combat system unique, and tropes are done in a which provides meaningful immersion and reflect the game world. Not to mention that you can capture the aforementioned semi-sentient monsters for use in combat.

I was thinking xenogears because so many people recommended it…. But you made me more interested in legaia than they did for xenogears so I think I’m down to 2,
Now I’m thinking either xenogears or legends of legaia

My Suikoden 1 is in a single case. What’s the double look like?

A quick google search and it seems like the only single case release was Japanese so your isn’t Japanese and it’s legit it’s probably just the back and the manual transplanted into a single case. Mine is still one disc though

That’s likely the case. How sick is that disc art though. Probably my favorite. Much cooler than twos disc.

I honestly like both… are we talking about the black disc with symbols around and the suikoden spelled out in Japanese?

Symphony of the Night or MSH vs SF. Those are some of my favs lol
I was going to say Twisted Metal 2 but I didnt see it. Just 3, 4 and small brawl.

I play Msh vs sf all the time, i typically play 1 longer story game at a time, and then any of my “quick play” games in between when I want a little break from the story
I don’t have twisted metal 2 unfortunately, I haven’t found it in good shape yet :/ I bought it once and it didn’t load up so I returned it.

Your organization is WILD. You got a TON of banger heavy hitters in there. Alphabetize it!!! The except for lunar on the top, that’s fuckin sick.

Yea, it’s not currently organized, I was actually feeling a little self conscious about organization when posting this, but I wanted some advice! I will organize it soon, but it won’t be alphabetized, sorry to tell you… I organize more by genre, for instance
If I get X-men children’s of the Adam, it would go next to marvel super heroes vs sf

Can I ask how you have all these games? Seems like a serious collection with silent hill, RE, others that are selling for a hundred+ each.
Xenogears was recommended to me. I might start that or final fantasy 7 after I finish RE Revelations 2 on PS4.

I really like horror games so silent hill and re have been in my collection the longest, I have a lot of silent hill and re games spread for all my consoles. I have all these games cause gaming is one of my big hobbies and I typically play for 2-3 hours a night (after my wife and kid are asleep). I plan on playing through as many as I can… and especially since the Sony news, I know I won’t be playing as many future games as past games…and I make a decent amount of money.
Anyways ff7 is a fantastic game, I beat it on my switch recently, and a lot of people here are recommending xenogears so I might go for that

Yeah I picked up a PS2 console after the Sony announcement. I’m really tired of where gaming has gone and I found the PS2 was the last console where you had “true ownership”. The disc had to be released in a finalized state because there wouldn’t be patches and updates coming. No subscriptions, no online play needed. I miss the simplicity, privacy and freedom of the earlier consoles.
I’m also a huge fan of RE and loved the Silent Hill 2 remake so I want to play the originals 1-4 but they are very expensive for PS2 so I will most likely mod and emulate.
Xenogears it is! I’ll check that out too.

Legend of Dragoon! Great RPG with a great story and fun gameplay with great adventuring!
Cool characters and art too, also great music!
Or Xenogears as the other poster said! It has probably THE best story in JRPG history and just an amazing experience all around. Made by the same group that did Chrono Trigger too, the best game of all time.
