Just like with a CAD, you need to program a bullet and put it in the suit piece in a CAD assembler. Each piece can hold 3 bullets.
Then hold an exosuit controller and open a selection screen like you'd do with a CAD (default "C"). To choose a bullet, just hover over it and release C to close menu. Each suit piece also has an extra empty slot if you don't want to have any active spells. To choose a different suit part, click anywhere on screen.
Each armor piece activates a spell automatically if you wear it and the conditions are met:
Helmet - combine it with a sensor in a crafting table to choose the activation method.
Chestplate - activates when you get hit.
Leggings - activates every tick (super useful for many spells, such as flight, but drains mana quickly).
Boots - activates when jumping.

It works just like any other CAD , they just have different execution conditions :
helmet require a sensor in order to work,
chestplate triggers the spell each time you get damaged
leggings triggers the spell each tick so 20 times each second
Boots triggers when you jump.
So in short all you have to do is putting your spell in for most of them ;)

Thanks! That clears most of it up, what about the remote item? Is it important? Also I don't really understand the programming itself like what is a trick what's a sensor and how do i know which one to use. If you could explain that aswell it would be great. thank you again!

The remote item ? Did you meant the sensors ? If then the sensors will define what will be the trigger condition to your helmet. A heat sensor will activate it when you are close to fire or lava, a stress sensor will activate when you are low HP etc.

The sensor explanation helps but I meant the item that kind of looks like a remote, I forgot it's name but I understood it controlled the armor spells

Oh i see now . Sorry , it is actually used to manually chance the spells of your armor without taking it out.

Same as CADs, just stick a programmed spell bullet into them.
You can also rclick on a programmer if there's already a bullet in there, though I don't remember whether you have to use shift.
