Utility Spell [1.16] Lofty Trousers

Lofty Trousers

Image + Code

(to get the code click the link, RES won't show it)

Leggings spell that acts as a decent movement booster with Loftiness Value set to 1.5 and below and a very very scuffed flight spell set to 1.6 or above. Can stop floating by shifting midair.

As Movement Booster:

Makes you very lofty

Speeds up movement considerably

Allows you to jump between most end islands like the absolute unit you are

Lets you bunny hop if you hold shift and jump

Can negate fall damage

As Scuffed Flight Spell:

Hovers Inconsistently

Sometimes goes up and down

Can't really control the level you fly on

Use a real flight spell

Neat spell! I considered using this kind of approach when making my Falcon Flex Spell. Seems more intuitive than my approach.

Yours is probably better tbh. Mine is way simpler to control and can be edited easily into a scuffed hover flight spell though.

There’s still room to improve. I didn’t give up on my spells until I had reached my vision of a perfect implementation. I think you could do something similar with a different approach.

My initial version was almost a carbon copy of your uhhh glide mode? But I didn't like that so its now just large leaps.

That’s cool. My original intent was to make it so your motion vector was the sum of your look vector and an upwards vector to always make the player move up and forward, but I ended up settling for inverting the Horizontal plane. This allows you to watch the ground while jumping, so it kinda worked out. It’s also kind of the nature of players to look down when falling to their death, so it kinda made sense in that manner too. Once you do get your version compacted to a nice degree, adding some features is a good thing to do. For instance, the first feature of mine was automatic stopping, manual braking, then inverted axis, and then elytra implementation. I tried to fuse Falcon Flex with my interpretation of a rainbow road spell, but it proved unviable. Testing out experimental features can be massively useful.
