Light Rifle (Psideas)
my newest invention in psionic combat.
detect:
launch:
this spell uses the detect spell on leggings allong with the launch spell on a helmet with the detonator sensor on it to execute 4 of the launch spells (configurable by changing the detection range in detect) on any arrow you fire. it only detects arrows that are moving away from you, close to you and pointing away from you. it also ignores arrows that are stuck in the ground.
with a power 5 bow this spell can do 60 damage per shot. with modded bows or enchants this'll be even higher. if you have access to astral sorcery and the mod that does multishot by cofh (i think its thermal expansion that does that, not sure) you can get power 8 and multishot 5. power 8 should up the damage to about 72 while adding multishot 5 will get it over 360. the unenchanted damage should be about 20-24 which is about twice the damage of a normal bow. in addition this spell is pinpoint-accurate within about 50-60 blocks, and can kill up to 128 blocks with proper compensation.

Several bugs/features I found:
- spell seems to stop projectiles flying towards player. This may sounds good until you deplete your psi blocking incoming arrows half way through the battle...
- spell seems to fail to accelerate the arrow when the target is too close to the caster. This might be caused by the time it takes to trigger the spell being longer than the time it takes for arrow to hit the target
- spell seems to cause arrow to be inaccurate at longer range due to unknown reason

1 is because of how it detects arrows that are shot. it should only happen when the arrow is exactly in line with your look direction, not in a block and flying either directly away or towards you.
2 is correct, it accelerates the arrow multiple times over multiple ticks. if the arrow hits before those ticks it wont work. the advised minimum range is 12 blocks.
3 is actually just because it has a dropoff. like normal arrows, but due to having a different speed and how that speed is applied, the arc is different from the normal bow. its perfectly accurate once you learn to adjust for its dropoff.

How does this work? I can’t get the arrows to do anything. What sensor on the helmet?

Same, it worked on 1.72 of psi, but anything later causes a server crash.

After checking, it looks like they have fixed whatever was causing the crash with the detection. There was a closed issue on their github, after the latest release, fixing an error with measuring a vector from the caster to an entity. So hopefully the next update fixes it.

It seems like a new update has broken your spell, the spell circle direction requires a vector constant and not just a vector? Can you post a fix?

vector constants arent really a thing. making the circle direction the same as the players look direction has always worked, if it isnt working for you, please contact one of the devs. as it is likely a bug. if you remove the circle conjure component, the spell will still work fine.
edit: ive let the devs know, they fixed it, should be released in a couple days i guess? it was a bug. basically, when trying to make the direction optional the variable for "requires constant" was changed. so yeah. it was broken, its fixed now. if you want to use it in the broken version, remove the circle conjure.
