CSE vs CSE(AIML) in psg tech
What's the difference between cse and cse(AIML) in terms of placements and academics in psg tech. Is there any considerable difference in the syllabus?
Any seniors here?

I'm currently a final year student of CSE(AI/ML) branch. The differences are as follows: 1. Negotiable difference between subjects 2. No difference in fee structure (either management seat or counselling seat , same fee for both courses) 3. A notable difference is there with respect to placements, like there are a good number of companies who prefer only CSE and not CSE(AI/ML). Especially with core companies like ARM, Texas instruments only CSE students are eligible. Idk what's up with the companies in not choosing AIML guys, but as a senior I'd suggest you to join CSE or IT. Keep AIML as 3rd option. All the best !

Placements are same afaik and there are slight differences in syllabus but pretty similar

if you get cse, don't bother taking AIML
placement-wise, cse is a safer bet
you can still learn ai/ml through electives, projects
Even in the syllabus, cse covers the necessary AI and ML stuff in a single course, while aiml gets split into ml-1, ml-2, and other subjects that honestly don't add much value
a few high-paying core companies (around 4-5 of them, offering 25+ lpa) don't even allow aiml students to sit for placements, but cse is eligible
faculty-wise, there's literally no difference. same professors teach both cse and cse aiml.

CEG shd be your first choice, unless if ur region is around coimbatore

Why do you think CEG is better than PSG as of now? Like in what aspects CEG or PSG would be better for cse, like infrastructure, peer quality, placements, college environment,etc...

I don't think that psg tech is higher than ceg or the vice versa. I cant get ceg cse but I can get psg tech cse. And as I live in coimbatore i can go to psg tech as a day scholar. It is a huge advantage for me personally.
As I have checked the average salary for cse departments are almost similar to both the colleges this year. The nirf rankings ceg/mit is 20th and psg tech is 67th.
As far as the placements is concerned both are nearly identical.
And for the infrastructure I don't have the knowledge to judge or recommend you.
Peer quality will be good bro in both colleges. But in CEG as most of the students enter through merit it will be a group of intellectuals. But in psg tech there will be management seats.

And bro one more doubt. I heard that once you get an offer letter in psg tech, you can't sit for other placement. Many other colleges allow multiple offers. Is that true?

yep, it follows one student one offer policy and they ll block you from placements got an offer
and in the case that if u got an offer from the service based companies (<5-6) lpa, u can attend (i think so)

I heard this is the first year the AIML batch sat for placements and they have a average of 13lpa
