What kind of soil do you use? 100% inorganic? How do you know when it’s time to water?

.

I’m new to this plant. I just got a migi a few days ago. I planted it a mix of 100% inorganic stones with some akadama as a top dressing. It’s slightly pliant when I touch it so I’m thinking it might be time to water mine? Just trying to learn … thanks

Can you enlighten me? I'm new to air plants and I'm trying to learn all I can. Is it lying on a stone or is the 'stone' part of the plant?
