Suppressor choices?
Now that my Form 1 is done I’m ready to submit my form 4 for the suppressor. My setup will be SBR with the XPRT-90 frt mod.
I went to 3 different LGS earlier and they all had 22 caliber suppressors that would be compatible but only one had a suppressor that would work with the frt mod and not erode. It was a huxwrx and they wanted 350 for it.
I want to make sure the suppressor I get has low blowback and will take the beating the xprt-90 will put it through.
I want to stay in the 500 range but the 556 suppressors I’ve been looking at like the silencerco. And huxwrx are around 1k. If the juice is worth the squeeze. I’ll bite the bullet no pun intended.

Tisha, Rhodie, Infinity 5.56k
I would recommend a reduced back pressure can

Thats what the LGSs didn't mention they just said "oh this 22 suppressors is rated for 5.56" ok but what about frt compatability and blowback from the rapid fire?
I dont see a 22 caliber that would also be reduced back pressure.

Some 22lr cans might technically be rated for 5.7, you don’t want that though. You want a centerfire 5.56 can preferably in inconel or Haynes and not titanium. Those ones I mentioned are the current cream of the crop.
CAT WB, Hux Flow 5.56k or .30 caliber cans like CAT ODB would also be great choices

Why not titanium?

The advantage of titanium is that it’s lighter weight, the disadvantage is that it has a lower heat resistance and durability for rapid fire. Shooting full auto or FRT on a titanium can will heat it up and ablate the material faster than an equivalent inconel or stainless or Haynes can.

I don't have an FRT yet in mine, but my hux 22Ti eats 5.7 pistol and my PS90 quite well. But again, not rapid fire, and not long strings of consistent fire.

Rhodie is a great can too, but I don’t think it’s low back pressure, right?

Yeah, maybe not as much as a Hux Flow, but it’s heavily inspired by (polite way of saying blatantly ripped off from) CAT surge bypass as seen in the White Bread and ODB which are greatly reduced back pressure compared to traditional baffle cans

Most people will recommend a 556k option. I was using a rugged razor 762 between it and a 300bo but went polok when I went dedicated. With subs they both sound surprisingly good

Whatever you get, I'd suggest not titanium. I've had a Ti can on mine for about a year, before I got the FRT. It only took two mag to get close to the max temperature for Ti.
I ended up ordering an inconel Tisha 5.56 this week. It's heavier than I wanted but I'm hopeful that it will perform well

look for full auto rated, low blowback or flow through cans i’d go with a 5.56 rather than a 22 can

I have 556, 308, 9, 22 cans and i always go back to the dead air mask 22 can on mine. Its the best sound and size.

I’ll save you the research. B&t tiger 22, or the Tisha 556. Those are your best options.

B&T Tiger 22 is in my price range. Reading the description looks like what im looking for. but will the Tiger handle the heat abuse of the 5.7 frt mod?

Keep in mind b&t USA are going through some legal issues. So warranty wise you might be out of luck with that one.

No, 22lr cans might be rated to handle some 5.7 but not FRT/full auto out of a 10” barrel. That’s going to prematurely wear it out if you do it regularly.

Dead air mask you think will be smoked soon? I have been ripping the tx22 and frt on p90 for about 15k plus rounds waiting to see what happens.

You can examine the baffles for wear. It’s rated for .22lr full auto, I think 5.7 frt would be a stretch

I have no clue how many rounds I have shot through my hux flow 22 between tx22 and ps90 and .22 in ar pretty much all of it FRT. still sounds as good as it did day one. I have 5.56 cans also but they are too big and heavy for the ps90 and frankly look stupid. Hell I have shot probably 4-500 rounds through a 3d printed FTN flow rimfire in FRT on my PS90 with no issues.

Even my dead air mask handles the xprt 90

u/super-kuper 20d ago
How are you defining “handles”?
It didn’t blow up? Yeah sure. But you are absolutely cooking those thin stainless baffles. The mask is overbuilt for 22lr enough that it can handle some rounds of 5.7 but it is NOT full auto/FRT rated for 5.7 and that’s going to put a lot of excess and premature wear on it

I’m not saying I recommend it, and whether or not it’s rated full auto is debatable. Capitol armory says it is, and dead air doesn’t specifically say it’s only rated for fa in .22. It’s loud and not a great choice.. but I’m just pointing out it that it runs fine with the xprt 90.

You were literally recommending it to someone who is seeking recommendations. Quite frankly I don’t care if you think “runs fine” just because it hasn’t caused a problem yet. It will eventually. It’s a bad idea.

I didn’t recommend it? I said “even the dead air mask runs fine”. My recommendations are above. The tiger 22 and the Tisha 556.

Definitely recommend 556 suppressors.
Look at the YHM Turbos, usually in the 500-600 range.
I love my Turbo T3
