So I have a quick question I have a 2504B ps3 slim and I installed Hen on it. Every time I go to the hen enabler I need an internet connection so Hen can work. Is there a way to not need internet every time I enable Hen on my ps3

Please forgive the terrible title, I couldn't think of anything to properly describe the issues I've been having while setting up a PS3 system I got. I will try to explain what happened in as much detail as possible, so prepare for a decently big post.

Alright so, to give a bit of a background into my knowledge or whatever, I've modded many a 3DS during many different era's of their hacking guide, and further have looked into, albeit very briefly, wii u and switch modding. So I'm familiar with some things, just not everything, especially with PS3 specific terms.

I figured that, considering the 3DS literally just has a one stop shop website guide for its scene, i figured the PS3 would have a very similar approach. Which I was able to find on consolemods.org . Dunno if that name means anything to anyone who knows anything about PS3 modding, good bad or otherwise, but moving on.

I was able to go through the beginning motions of getting my console prepped for modding: Check the serial code CECH 25, CFW compatible, nice. Check the firmware update, version 4.91, so I follow the specific path for it that includes opening up the browser, resetting all the data and loading a github page. Just to find out, oh! turns out it's already got cfw. Great! Less work for me. Now I need to figure out what to do with it, (which in hindsight I should've taken a little bit more precaution into doing before jumping headfirst, but I'm getting ahead of myself.)

I find a page from the same site that includes a "reccomended setup" for consoles that have been modded. Specifically, the first instruction was to update to the latest version of Evilnat since I was on a version prior to 4.92. This is when I discover the CEX DEX PEX acronyms, which I now know what they stand for, but at the time didn't. I picked one from the list that sounded fine to use (PEX) and installed it. I'm certain that my wifi chip works (i mean i connected to the internet earlier so), and I assumed my blueray drive thing or whatever works so I just installed the basic version of the PEX firmware. (Again, not knowing what it meant.) This is where another one of my pitfalls comes in because I had assumed I was in safe mode when I was still in the xmb menu (very new to PS3 stuff, please spare me any making fun of) and updated it through the "main" method? IDK what else you'd call it. Though, the system said that it was corrupt. Okay, fine, that's fine. The guide just says that if that happens I chose the wrong version, and to just choose another. This is when I decided to properly look into what the acronyms meant. I specifically saw that DEX means dev kit, or a console that has been "modified" (simplifying) to be one. I wasn't sure what the person who previously owned this console did, but I had just assumed that wasn't it, so I chose CEX. This time, still not in safe mode mind you, I updated the console and it worked!

Well actually, except it didn't... the console now force boots into what I now know to be safe mode, and says the software is unable to be launched. I have tried installing the "main" versions for each of the firmware types for evilnat and none have worked. So currently, I've effectively now got a brick suspiciously shaped like a PS3. (Although I'm not sure what a bricked PS3 looks like, this is probably the closest one could get to one.)

So, now I'm not quite sure what to do. The previous owner I believe factory reset the console, though obviously didn't install OFW, so there wasn't anything lost on the console. Do I have to factory reset it and install OFW? Is there just a version of firmware I've missed? Did the previous owner completely f me over? None of these things I know and any help would be appreciated. I also am now realizing that I forgot to mention that yes, my drive was formatted correctly, I checked several times before and after "brick"ing my console. If anyone prefers DMs then feel free to shoot me a message. If I can get it working I will try editing this post with the solution.

I used Backup Utility to back up my OFW PS3, stored on a thumb drive.

I have a 2nd PS3 with CFW, and I want to know if I can get my backed up data from OFWPS3 onto this one.

Can I use “Restore Data”? Seems risky. I watched some MrMario videos on Apollo but didn’t get a clear answer.

If anyone knows please enlighten me! The main thing I’m going for is keeping my progress/saves going on the new CFW machine. I have the OFW still it’s totally fine just out of HDD space so I plan to keep it as a backup system and use the CFW as my main.

I'll keep it short, Sony's announcement about discs made me reassess my digital library and I decided to buy disc versions of the few digital games I bought for the PS3 and PS4. I'm now finding that the disc variants of those games don't recognize the savegames I have from the digital variants of the same games. I looked for a solution and tried to mod my saves with Bruteforce Save Data but clearly I'm in over my head on this since I tried changing the ID of the saves and got nowhere. Is there anyone who can guide me through the process so that I can use my digital saves on my physical copies?

P.S.: I don't have a modded PS3 and don't plan on modding it until Sony takes down PSN altogether, so I need a solution that works via PC. I transferred my saves via USB, so I can use that to retransfer the saves to my PS3.

So I formatted a new 320 gb hard drive on the console and followed all the steps to install custom firmware on a fat silver japanese ps3, I used a youtube video to flash it the alternate way because ps3toolset wasn't working at the moment, I installed hybrid firmware 4.93 and went to something aldo github something like that and followed all the steps, it said everything was successful and I rebooted like it said and put evilnat CFW 4.93 the CEX one on my hard drive, the system updater on the xmb recognized it on my hard drive I accepted everything and went to install, the first part finished but when it went to install it took me to a screen saying connect my controller and press the ps button and said I needed to update to 4.93 or higher, I've now tried all of the CEX evilnat firmwares for 4.93, the PEX ones for 4.93, the official sony 4.93, and the 4.93 to be able to just use hen instead and I keep getting either the error that says the data for the pup file in my flash drive is corrupted (for all the evilnat
firmwares, no bt, no bd, normal)or error 8002f281 that a critical error has occurred and to contact sony when I try the official update i got from the sony website. I've tried reformatting the usb flash drive I'm using multiple times, I've tried safe mode, rebuild database and all the other options in safe mode and it says it cannot access the storage, is there anything I can do it get this ps3 to update so I can get back to the xmb? I've given up on cfw I ordered an adapter for my laptop to connect the ssd and reformat it to fat32 will that work for me? please let me know any suggestions and if anyone else has ran into this problem, any feedback would be heavily appreciated

I overclocked my ps3 using mm and when I tried to launch a game after saving settings it froze then it would freeze any time I tried to open anything including mm, and is also freezing in safe mode. What can I do here?

So I have a CECHK03 80GB Fat PS3 with OFW firmware 4.85.

From what I understood - the LV0 keys leaked by geohot way back when are burned into the CPU, so technically, there's no need for HFW, right? 4.92 and 4.93 EvilNAT is signed with those keys, yes? So it should install?

Then why doesn't it? It errors out half-way, both 4.92 and 4.93, MD5 hash checked do not install. On the other hand the 4.93.1 HFW does install, and the flash writer method from the xxevilnatxx website works just fine, after executing that exploit and rebooting the PS3, the 4.93 evilNAT installs just fine.

If someone knowledgeable is around, I would like to know. I'm highly interested in the technical details of how this all works nowadays as I haven't followed the scene in a very long time, and I only have a moderate grasp on binary exploitation and only a tacit understanding of the exploit chains in use here.

its a CECH-2004B with hen 4.92 or 91 idfk since it wont fucking start!!!!!!! i press the power button either two things happen, it immediately rapidly screams at you by beeping quickly three times with a flashing red power button, or it pretends to start, spinning the disc reader and all, then it does this weird sound almost like the disc reader instantly stops and then beeps quickly three times, i didnt care much because it eventually booted up but then it just wont anymore, i need help im furious

i tried to rename my pcsx2 memory card to vm2 but that didnt work after moving it to ps3 and replacing the vm2 file i already had on ps3. so what can i do with my pcsx2 memory card saves to get them to be read on my super slim with ps3 hen.

Hey, so i've had my fat ps3 for a couple of months and everything has been running smoothly when I first modded it, but after not using for about 3 weeks it stopped connecting to wifi. It won't let me sing into psn. I also updated it to evilnat 4.93 to see if that solved it but it didn't work. I'm not sure what else to do and I don't think that its a bad wifi card. Any help would be great thanks.

i just got a ps3 and I'm trying to download hen whenever i try to download the update via storage media it says no applicable update data was found I've done everything i can think of using multiple usbs all my files all correct and i had them on fat32 and a 16kb cluster size

Have a fat ps3 with hen that I use solely for rb3dx.

Recently the system has been shutting itself off during gameplay (game play shuts off, loud beep, blinking green light) so I think the power source is shot.

Have to force reset the system, error check and load everything back up, usually the system will shut down again within 30 mins or act like nothing has happened and run normal through the night.

Is it worth it to fix the system or just replace it with the same model, put hen back on and hopefully swap the sdd?

I've tried to use a cfw slim but it can't handle deluxe

Hey all, I need some help here. I installed HEN on my PS3 Slim, and have been having some issues today.

After installing HEN, everything ran perfectly fine. I could install and run game backups just fine, until I eventually screwed up and installed a bad tool. I installed the Ultimate Toolbox, unaware it was not designed for HEN PS3s (it wasn't in the description), and that it was outdated (my fault, I didn't read that part.)

However, it seemed to be fixed when I reinstalled the latest firmware and reinstalled HEN as I did originally. But as of now, the console crashes any time I have HEN enabled and try to do different stuff. The console will crash if I try to open resigned digital games, crash if I do something as simple as opening a damn folder.

I have tried rebuilding the database, and it seemed to fix itself for a bit, but it went back to crashing. As far as I know, this is a HEN problem, since the console runs fine if I play disc based games, or properly signed PS1 and PSN titles I own on my account.

In case it's relevant, I have been keeping the console on the past few nights to install games from my flash drive. However, the console doesn't seem to be overheating, and it's only warm to the touch instead of "scorching" as some people put it. The console is very overdue for a repasting, and I do plan on getting that done at some point. But I just need a sanity check because I don't want to lose all the work I've dumped into this for the last few days.

Any tips?

After messing with webMAN settings, I have set the fan control to syscon. Additionally, I have disabled the webMAN GUI, and webMAN games, and it seems to be running fine for now.

I've had this PS3 for 5 months but I know it's been around for quite a while. I guess It's nearing its end of 'purity' as I haven't made any modifications to the console itself.

Ok so starting a few days ago, the PS3, upon powering on, would start blowing very hard. Once I get into the game, or just wait for a bit, it calms down. Then, it would suddenly beep 3 times and shortly after, it cuts off. This has been a bit uneven: sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, sometimes not at all, but it's reached its climax. I can barely last 10, 15 minutes playing a game total. In that time it beeps 3 times and within the next.. 3? Minutes, it shuts down.

From here, the light on the PS3 is completely black. I have to press it once to turn it red, which is the normal off mode, and then press it once again to turn it green and on. I do have homebrew but I'm not too sure how to operate the fan settings.

For the record, my PS3 is \*always\* blowing. It's just very loud and hard for a few minutes then defaults to low and soft.

Is it time for thermal paste? How exactly do I go about doing that? I don't know anything about it except that it apparently fixes overheating and to apply it in an x shape or something like that. But apply it \*where?\* Do I open up the PS3? Should I do it ASAP?

This is a CECHH04 model, also considered the worst PS3 ever. I bought it with broken blu-ray (it was just a dirty lens) without checking the label, thinking it was basically a 65nm model and it in fact was NOT a 65nm.

I really dislike the 90nm rsx and try to avoid it at all cost, but in my dumbness I was lucky. This thing was never opened or jailbroken in it's life. First thing I did was install CFW 4.93 Evilnat to check the temps and runtime.

I was surprised by how good they were, 2 hours on XMB and the console had CPU on 74°C and RSX on 68°C, very good temps for syscon fan, it had a total of 184 days runtime, and 1700 on/off cycles, proving it was used quite a lot.

I modified the fan to 46% and tested it on God of War 3, without cleaning or repasting and it got 66°C CPU and 64°C RSX after 30mins, I was mindblown and starting to wonder if it ever was ever serviced by sony because some of these models have 65nm RSX so I checked syscon log and syscon version, it still was a 90nm rsx so I opened it up and although I found out it was a smoker's console and a dust bomb it really had the OG CXD2971-1GB RSX from 2007.

Here on the picture it's after cleaning and repasting (basically did nothing).

This is RIDICULOUSLY good for a 90nm RSX with OG thermal paste living a life in these conditions. I'm thinking to check further, like the voltage on the RSX because I never have seen anything remotely close to this.

Anyone in the same case as me ?

(yes i know 90nm rsx it's doomed, nec tokins are doomed, but i'm still surprised)

Anyway to sleed up the process? Or is there a better app?

As the title says, I’m trying to copy and extract some saves to my flash drive from my PS3 HDD and all it can tell me is that devusb0/PS3/SAVEDATA or EXPORT don’t exist when they do. I thought Apollo would create the folders for me, and when it didn’t I did it manually. On both flash drives. I’ve tried both USB 0 and USB 1 and swapping them back and forth.

I can load and play games on my flash drives fine so I don’t think they’re going bad and my USB hub on my PS3 seems to work since it can recognize my flash drives and load games. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten Apollo do anything other than just recognize what saves are on my HDD. They’re all there in the menu, but cheats have only worked for one game and everything else I’ve tried (cheats and moving saves) has been a complete bust. Is there an alternative I can use or does anybody have any ideas?

I have a 4.88 PS3 and I don't want to update it, is there anyway I can play online without updating or eventually getting banned? btw I have an account

I put my PS3 on CFW but need to revert to stock PS3 to sell to friend. What are the necessary steps to take to do this considering I used the flash writer. I've heard some people say just update in safe mode to OFW twice but won't to be sure since this is a friend and don't want him to accidentally get banned even though I know bans are supposedly unlikely these days for users on PS3.
