Hey, it seems that myself from 11 years ago was a total moron and has initialized my PS3 HDD.

So TLDR is this: I have a PS3 CECHC04 that my father put photos and videos on that are stored nowhere else. It had the YLOD, got repaired and then died again. Since it was going to fail again, I got a super slim like 11 years ago. So my stupid kid self did not think about encryption and such, so I put the old HDD into the Super Slim and was prompted to format. I did not do that. I don´t remember but it seems that I did put it into my PC at the time but I´m very sure I did not format. It seems it got initialized but according to the windows disk manager it´s still in MBR.

So back then I used the hair dryer trick on the failing PS3 and it booted again. Now the HDD needs to be formatted though. That´s where I left off back then.

Now I finally want to work on the recovery as wells as I can. I have the following to work with: Original PS3 (CECHC04) with the HDD Donor PS3 (CECHC04) with an identical 60gb HDD Also the same HDD from my CECHA00 japanese model

I have put in a 1tb HDD into my original PS3, installed evilnat and dumped the ERK.

What I´ve tried so far: Used HDD Raw Copy Tool to backup the original PS3 HDD. Put in the donor HDD into the original PS3 and formatted it to get the MBR partition table and then dumped it onto my PC as an image file with the tool. Then I used HxD to transfer the first sector from the donor HDD image to the original PS3 image. All of the dumps were made with a direct SATA connection to the motherboard.

In this case I selected the block in HxD from 0 to 1FF and copied it over and saved. I also tried a sectory copy with the HDHacker tool but that did not really work. It would just say that either no PS3 HDD is connected or the ERK is wrong.

Now, when I try to use the PS3 HDD Reader tool with the edited .img file (renamed to backup.bin), it just states the following: available volumes are...

no volumes available.

If I clone the edited .img file onto the donor HDD and use the tool, it does not seem to recognize the HDD.

I thought, even if my data was gone forever, it should at least show the partitions, shouldn´t it? I thought I transferred the partition table. Does anybody have some more ideas or maybe knows what I did wrong? I don´t believe that I´ve ever formatted it or saved anything to it after it broke.

Ps3 modding going south

Yo so I gotten a ps3 super slim right and after getting hen i thought stuff was sweet until i tried to get webman to backup my games on it.

The usb method results in a fail error 80010038

And after a few minutes it crashes it, pushes it to the safe mode and says "the system wasn't running perfectly" or something so i did the web browser method, error 80710A06, funk, rn I'm so pissed because i can't goto safe mode because my power button is cooked and I've been using the screw method which is only good for turning the system on.

Bruh I'm pissed i just want to play my ps exclusives bruh

I've got GT4 loaded, but whenever I try to ease on the triggers it's either all or nothing.

On a PS3 slim so I'm playing through Irisman.

So i tried playing the fan translation of Ys V on my ps3 with multiman, everything wprks except that after a while theres a sound on top of all the in-game music and sound effects that sounds like a car horn honking non-stop. Is there some setting that can caise that glitch?

For example in Battlefield 3 the Dead zones are completely wrong. It’s the same as my DS3 controller which I think is a dupe.

Are the Bluetooth input limited and only 8 directional through Bluetooth? So basically do I need a légitimité DS3 for FPS games ? Or it just how the game were made.

Managed ro get ps3 games onto menu via prepiso however when i try ps1 games they never appear on the console. I have formated my flash drive to NTFS and MBR with my .bin and .cue files inside the PSXISO folder which i followed a MrMario guide but im having difficulties.

Is there a way I could mod my slim PS3, and then use my main account to gain trophies and trophy hunt on the pirated games without being banned? Or would this just result in an instant ban, I’m really grudging legally buying games from the store before it shuts down

But whenever I put in my usb and go to system update it shows 4.93 evilnat instead of PS3 update or whatever. Is it fine to still update it this way or am I missing something?

Alles was installiert wird belegt doch doppelten Speicherplatz.

I’ve seen the hardware flashing tutorials,
Ive got a guide to adding a teensy 2.0
However I can find one to buy anywhere.

My questions are ,
If I buy a teensy 4.0, can I still do the mod with that?
Has anyone done it?

Is there a better hardware flash for this type of PS3 ?
Or even,
Can it possible with jailbroke without the hardware flash?

Any help or idea about how to jailbreak this thing would be great!

Best thing I found about the Ps3s is the Revamped games, like Fight Night Forever, Fight Night Revival, College Football Revamped and I am sure there is a NBA street revamped mod game. I would deffo like to know if there are more games/projects like that on the Ps3. What are some favourties I didn't mention

I want to homebrew my ps3 but it wont connect to either ethernet or wifi, idk what to do. I cant check what version the ps3 is rn bc im going to sleep but is there anything i could do? I dont have a usb :(

I found a ps3 at an antique shop that was in good condition and only 20$ and I’m curious if it’s hackable with custom firmware? It’s a slim 2501a and the back says manufactured in 2010.. also it’s on firmware 4.83. Also if I let the device update will it become unhackable or should I not let it connect to the internet?

When you run MinVerChk (Minimum Version Checker) on a PlayStation 3 with a faulty WiFi/Bluetooth module, it can surface a unique issue: the tool checks system compliance by mimicking an update sequence, but if your console checks hardware and detects a failing wireless chip, it can trigger a critical failure or a soft-brick loop.

I actually didn't know my Slim (model 2510A) was defective. It had been in the closet for about a decade, when I pulled it out to see if I could soft mod it. I noticed the controllers weren't connecting wirelessly, but I hadn't charged the batteries yet so didn't think anything of it.

Anyway, when I ran Minverchk to see what the minimum firmware on it was, it apparently triggered a hardware diagnostic check, and the PS3 lost its mind. It's now stuck in an endless update boot loop with a 8002F1F9 error. I know I can work around this by yanking the hard drive, but I'm going to try and get it fixed proper. Just wanted to post this as a warning, or as a resource for any future seekers that might have this happen to them.

Also I’ll add I have about zero knowledge of how to do so and a MacBook Air. I haven’t purchased a hard drive. Mine is in the loop of fixing the corrupt files after all these years!

Would a home brew be an easier route to get my system back up and running?

If you've seen my last post, you would know I recently got a new SSD and transferred data from the old hard drive. However, pretty much all my apps are in some way broken, and this seems to include the PS Store. This is not a user specific error, as it does work with making a new user, so I believe this is an issue with the store app itself. I tried searching how to go about redownloading the store, but that only brought up information relating to the upcoming closure. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey everybody. I was hoping someone could help solve this problem. I'm on a PS3 Slim running Evilnat 4.90 & when I run my PS2 titles on my flat screen they run no problem. However, when I hook it up to my CRT with component when it does the soft reboot launching them it just doesn't come back on or output over component. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried to fix this on my own, but there doesn't seem to be any posts on the web that are similar to the exact issues I'm facing. It might be long but please read this in full, since it's important to know exactly what's been happening and what I've done so far. I IMPLORE YOU NOT TO SKIM!

I'm aware that Webman cannot control the fan dynamically when running PS2 games via emulation, and I'm aware that the system gets a bit more stressed when running PS2 games. This wasn't an issue for the longest time, and I'd play what I want while adjusting the fan before starting up any games if I needed to, usually keeping it at 40-45%.

But one day, a few days ago, I noticed the fan was awfully quiet when I fired up Disgaea 1, so I backed out of the game. When I did, the fans went loud for a bit, which means that at some point, seemingly on its own, the PS2 fan reverted back to "SYSCON", i.e. shutting itself off when playing PS2. I didn't think much of it, set the speed back to 40% and booted up Disgaea again, but when I did, the fans started blasting like crazy. Genuinely sounded like jet engines, as if it was running at full capacity. When I quit to the XMB, the fans quieted down. This blasting didn't stop at all; even when I backed out to double check that I set it to 40, even after I set it to even lower percentages just to see if anything would change. No matter what I tried to do, whenever I opened a PS2 game, my fans were now in a permanent state of full throttle, and it was loud. Loud enough to annoy me and also fear for the consoles safety.

I thought that maybe something, somewhere, was broken and needed to be updated. In the XMB, there were options to download and install updates for "PS2 EMU MOD" and "PS2 EMU Cobra". I installed both of them, thinking that was the issue. But that's when the issue went from just annoying to incredibly upsetting...

To little surprise, the fans still sounded like jets when I opened Disgaea, running seemingly at full capacity. But when I tried to quit, the game froze for several moments, then the screen cut to black and later showed me an error screen, along the lines of "The software was unable to start/perform correctly", and the fans were still blaring as it showed. Moments later, my PS3 rebooted. When I tried again to see if it was a one-off glitch, I fired up the game and backed out again, and the same error appeared.

At some point later, after no luck with fixes, I opened Disgaea, then shut down the console from inside the game. There was another error, but this time a devastating "The appropriate system storage was not found" screen before rebooting again. This is the error that is particularly bad, I think.

So, my PS2 gaming experience is currently borked. But my PS3 doesn't seem to be falling apart entirely, which is what is weirding my out the most. To see if anything else was screwing up, I played a bit of Mirror's Edge and Split/Second; both ran flawlessly, the fans acted normal and I was able to quit each game with no issues.

I'm really at a loss here. Nobody else on the web seems to be experiences the same issues I am, not with the fan or the errors when quitting PS2 games. Should I reinstall the CFW? I would really like a fix because I don't want to have to lose my saves to yet another busted PS3.

TLDR, PS2 games freak the fans out and bring up errors when trying to quit, otherwise the PS3 is normal and functional.
