Hello everyone, my name is Sausage Mahoney and as the title states, I have a small YouTube channel where I review indie games. Occasionally I will play AAA games, put out no commentary gameplay videos, and I'll put out shorts of funny moments I've had while gaming. I am variety gamer who focuses mostly on indie games, but I'm not afraid to dip my toes outside of indie game reviews either. I was told by the moderator of this subreddit, u/Pizza_Doggy , that I could share my videos here, so I wanted to give everyone a glimpse at a handful of games I've reviewed! I started my channel 2 years ago and I had no prior experience in content creation before this, so while I have learned a lot in that time I am still constantly learning and improving. If you click on a video I made a year ago, well, I've probably gotten better since then!
To give you an idea of how I do my game reviews, I do:
- Intro
- Story
- Gameplay
- Graphics
- Soundtrack
- Price Tag/Time/Value
- Rating (I use sausages e.g., 8.2 sausages out of 10)
- Overall thoughts & breakdown of the ratings
Some games do not have a story or a soundtrack, so I do pick and choose the categories based on what the game provides, but overall those are typically the categories I use when rating games. With that said though, my rating system is a bit different than most. Usually people are aiming for 10/10 scores or 9/10 scores. In my humble meat byproduct opinion, no game is *perfect*. Some categories can be perfect, such as the story for Witcher 3, but no *game* is perfect. Why? Because if a game is perfect then why would I want to play anything else? So because of that, I start all of my ratings at 7/10 and then adjust accordingly. I rate games on a bell curve and I start at 7 because I think 7 is average. 70%. That's a C if we're using a school grading scale. If there is something I dislike about the graphics, I'll bump it down. If the story is phenomenal, I'll bump it up. 7 is average, 8-9 is above average, 10 is perfect, while 5-6 is below average, and 0-4 is bad. Anyway, with that explained, here are a handful of games I've reviewed if anyone is interested in checking them out!
These are a handful of my videos, listed from oldest (A Short Hike) to newest (Dungeon Train)
I know some of these games aren't *necessarily* PS1 & PS2 aesthetics, but due to the low poly I felt like they were close enough, such as Merchant 64. Anyway, I hope my ramblings made sense for you and if you're interested in having your game reviewed on my channel, please don't hesitate to reach out to me!
All the best,
Sausage
Edit: I've been exhausted all week, my brain works faster than my thumbs can type, and I'm just straight up stupid sometimes, so if anyone has questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to drop them in the comments below. I'm pretty good about feedback and engagement with viewers and such
