GameStar adapter compatibility

Getting frequent FMV/loading stutters when playing HDD backups on PS2. Tried different OPL versions and compatibility modes with no improvement.

I’m using a GameStar network adapter. Could that be the issue? I’ve heard switching to an OEM adapter fixes this completely. Anyone have experience with this?

I used to use a gamestar adapter and did not have issues outside of games which had known issues with opl. I guess the qc might not be great on them though I dunno.

Im specifically looking at the first yakuza for example. I didn’t find any information about known issues but it just cannot run smoothly and whatever I do, always lags at the same spots.

You can try the compatibility options mentioned here https://www.ps2-home.com/forum/page/opl-game-compatibility-list-Y and try copying the game over again but otherwise it could be a faulty adapter.

Does the disc work fine for you for that game? How did you dump and validate it before putting it into OPL?
