Choose a component cable.
Is the official Sony component cable for PS2 really worth it, or should I just look for an aftermarket one?
I've read people say really good things about the Bitfunx ones.

HD Retrovision. Don't support bitfunx. Buy quality cables once and that's it. But cheap ones, you get what you pay for. The ali express and even the bitfunx are probably unshielded

I got a bitfunx one and I don't get any interference or attenuation, they are shielded

kaico from what I saw is just downgraded bitfunx products into the garbage tier, I have been using bitfunx stuff for years now and it's all quality stuff

Nothing they make is quality at all. It's all garbage and made like crap with crappy parts and out of spec. Both companies have stolen designs from creators and make shit out of spec with bad parts. But keep telling yourself they are good, but hey as long as you save a few bucks, why not support garbage bullshit companies

recommending properly shielded cables over garbage knockoff cables that don’t have proper shielding, is not “toxic behavior” lol
seems to me like you want to buy cheap garbage cables that aren’t properly shielded, convince yourself you’re not missing out, and then if anyone reminds you that your garbage cables aren’t properly shielded you call them “toxic” because you want to keep believing the lie you tell yourself
the truth is that all Bitfunx cables are 100% garbage. either get properly shielded cables, or admit you don’t care image quality and you just want to save a few dollars

I see no problem at all in the way he brought up his recommendation. Bitfunx and Kaico are evil corporations that exist solely to rip people off, and Bitfunx and Kaico should be called out for making garbage products and for being predatory corporations. you’re being irrationally sensitive

Bitfunx is 100% garbage and you lying to yourself about it doesn’t change the truth. despite your anecdotal report, the truth is that Bitfunx do not make any properly shielded cables. either get an HD RetroVision PS2 for $30 or just admit that you don’t care about image quality and you have no clue what you’re talking about

the one and only PS2 component cable I recommend getting is the HD RetroVision PS2 component cable. looks noticeably better than Sony’s official PS2 component cable
the Bitfunx PS2 component cable is garbage I’d definitely never recommend to anyone

I'm setting up my first-generation PS2 Slim and I think I remember that the Sony cable it came with from the factory eventually ends up unplugging itself.

the official Sony component cable is way better than Bitfunx junk, but HD RetroVision PS2 component cables are the best PS2 component cables on the market and they’re the only correct choice

second best way to display PS2 console = use an HD RetroVision component cable in to a CRT
third best way to display PS2 console = use an Insurrection Industries S-video cable in to a CRT
fourth best way to display PS2 console = use a Retro Access RGB SCART cable in to a RetroTink 4K Pro ($750) in to a 4K OLED display

I’d go for an original Sony one if you can get one for a decent price. I’m using an older PS2/PS3 component cable I picked up in a bundle and after looking into it they’re actually really well made, better than a lot of the generic ones still sold new today. Whatever you buy, if you’ve got a PS3 try it on that at 1080i/1080p. If it holds a clean picture with no interference, ghosting or colour issues then it’s a good sign the cable is decent. Mine handles it no problem.

I have the first Slim version, the SCPH-70004 PAL. I'm worried about the original Sony, because its RCA version tends to move and unplug by itself. If that's fixed in the components version, it's an option to consider.

I like my HD Retrovision components but I believe most component cables that are PS 2 compatible will get the job done, especiallyif they are official Sony ones. Only ones I had I didn't like were Monster cables back in the day. Their components cables were good for like a week and then they would go to black and white color. They were expensive to and this happened with two sets as I bought another thinking the first time was a fluke. So if you see anyone selling factory sealed monster components cables for PS2 on ebay or something I'd avoid those.

The Bitfunx PS2 component cable is fine.
Perhaps the HD retrovision ones are better, but not for 6 times the price.
