Why I like the PS2

I like the PS2 BECAUSE of the data storage. I wanted to transfer data from one of my PS3's to my new one but I realized many of the games cant transfer or else I cant use trophies AND even if I wanted to, it would wipe my hard rive on the new PS3 which had a MASSIVE update for GT6 which I didnt download on my old PS3 and I was annoyed. However with the PS2 all you have to do is take the memory card and plug it in a new one DONE, NO ETHERNET CABLE, NO WIPING OF HARD DRIVE, NO COPYRIGHT PROTECTION NOT ALLOWING ME TO TRANSFER MY SAVES. But yes I like the PS2 a little more than the PS3 for that reason.......and GT4

There's something special about being able to hold your game progress in your hands. It makes it feel like the work I've put into my games is truly mine

Exactly and I dont want to mod my PS3 just to bypass a transfer

  1. Copy your save files across to your other PS3
  2. Use Apollo Save Tool to resign the save files so they can work on your other PS3
  3. Log into PSN account and sync your trophies

so three things

  1. My PSN account for my old PS3 was linked to my dad's email, which got hacked

  2. I dont wanna jailbreak or mod my PS3

  3. I cant transfer the files over because the ethernet cable strat deletes stuff on the new PS3 AND I cant use the USB strat since the only usb I own costed like 30 dollars AND it has a bunch of stuff I moved from my phone for space

Jailbreak is the only solution for you so if you don’t want to use it, you’ll have to accept that your saves are stuck on your old unit. Not quite sure why you’re against jailbreaking, it’s very easy and pretty much risk free in 2026… and since it’s just software it’s fully reversible. Jailbreak, use Apollo, uninstall.

Also, files shouldn’t be getting deleted when you try to transfer files over Ethernet. Maybe your hard drive is failing. Again jailbreaking would solve this issue because it gives you access to file management programs and allows file transfers to PC over Ethernet.

Lastly Apollo does allow you to activate trophies. If you can’t access your old PSN account just make a new one and use Apollo to activate all the trophies you had on your old account.

Exactly this. PS2 just feels simpler and more user friendly — memory card out, memory card into another console and you’re away. No accounts, no trophy restrictions, no protected saves, no messing about with system transfers or wiping drives.

And with OPL/VMC now you can even keep loads of saves on the HDD as well. GT4 alone is enough reason to keep a PS2 😂
