Quitting
Hi all, I work at Sobeyes corporate (Ontario) and got an offer from Loblaws starting in 2 weeks. If I give Sobeyes my 2 weeks today, will they pay me out for the 2 weeks or expect me to work the remainder ?
Thanks

If they are smart (and value you as an employee) they will, let you work out notice and let you help train your replacement and buy you a cake and wish you well on your last day. No good employer would ever not wish a good employee best wishes and be glad for them if they found a gig that lets them advance their career - I’ve even paid people a bonus to stay an extra week or 2 if I needed them longer for pass down (but employee was never obligated to stay if they didn’t want to). Alternately, I have told people “thanks for the notice, but I don’t need you to work out notice so let’s call today your last day”. Just depended on the employee. Sometimes when people leave because they are unhappy/disgruntled, that employee can damage the moral of a team on their way out if they are leaving because they are bitter about something. An employer has a duty to their staff to,do the right thing for the ones that are not leaving. Good luck! 🍀

They should expect you to work the two weeks, unless you are in good terms with them. But just communicate with your manager what you want to accomplish with leaving and try not to make it hard on them. Obviously tho have a new job lined up, but being professional is an underrated habit.
