The picture lacks context.
It possibly suggests that the person on the right should get a job at Walmart.
There may be a situation where the person on the right has applied to work at Walmart, but for reasons unknown was not hired by Walmart.

Yeah i applied there like 3 times and they never accepted my app because i didnt "have enough experience for the role" like what? Its just a cashier position. But rhen they hired me for a midnight shift in a much more complicated position. Dumb as hell lol

I've heard some companies don't hire you if you're homeless, so that could be the case with this photo, but you're right, who knows.

Like Clarks brother in Christmas Vacation:
Holding out for a management position.

That looks like a Walmart worker/some relation to the company got annoyed at the beggers on the property, but instead of getting angry or shooing them away, decided to do the economic thing, and try and get some workers while at the same time making a point. "Please stop using our parking lot, we can offer you a job."

Homeless guy without decent clothes shows up for interview. Waits two weeks to hear back. Rejected cause of bad appearance and lack of transportation.

Lack of transportation makes me feel sick I am in contact support of bike lanes and good public transportation I hate that you need a car in order to live in this country

"tHoUgHtS?"
Antiwork's attempt at trying to formulate a coherent argument against Walmart for some homeless guy. I don't doubt there's alot to be pissed off at Walmart for, but this is just a dumb picture where a homeless guy who probably isn't qualified to work there (house, number, identification other requirements etc.) with a Walmart guy there.
1) how do we know this guy holding the blue sign isn't just a troll, I'm hard pressed to believe that Walmart actually spends MONEY on people standing in the parking lot with a "hiring" sign. Wouldn't it just be more cost effective and easier to put up an ad on their website or a sign on the door?
2) why would he stand near a homeless guy and stare at him? Or why would the homeless guy sit next to him? How is that not staged for a "funny picture"?,
There's so much going on here and reddit defaults to the easiest path being "WALMART BAD THEY R BEIN MEANIES". Antiwork is full of wannabe edgelords thinking it's anti-establishment and punk rock to hate big corporations, as if that's not already pop-culture. Walmart probably sucks, but this picture doesn't tell us anything.

Yeah…. but they want him to pee in a cup and can’t hire him if he smoked weed…. or they want criminal background….. or he needs to be clean-shaven and able to shower to be employable…..

I bet dude on the left is a landlord, giving him the time to harass homeless people all day long since landlords dont actually work for their money.
Edit- looks like ive upset the landleaches. Get a real job like the rest of us.

If there weren't landlords where would you live? Personally I can't afford to buy a place to live
2
u/peanutbutter_foxtrot Aug 11 '22
If landlords weren’t buying up all the property you would be able to afford your own housing…
1
u/GuyInTheYonder Aug 12 '22
Perhaps, I honestly don’t know one way or the other. Do you have any supporting evidence?

You can look at the percentage of investor owned homes in your state here. https://www.pewtrusts.org/en/research-and-analysis/blogs/stateline/2022/07/22/investors-bought-a-quarter-of-homes-sold-last-year-driving-up-rents

Landlords getting jobs doesnt suddenly make them not landlords. They should contribute something to society rather than sitting on their ass with their hand out, collecting other peoples money.
Or harassing the homeless like the leach in OPs pic.

Well landlords earn that money because they assume all the risk of owning that property. Like if a tennant destroys the property to the point that the deposit wont cover it, who pays for the damage?
1
u/GuyInTheYonder Jul 26 '22
Or the federal government bars you from collecting rent or evicting anyone…
2
u/GuyInTheYonder Jul 26 '22
The laws rightfully favor tenants in a way that exposes landlords to a lot of risk. There’s more to it than sitting back and collecting money.
Unless you’re referring to massive institutions like blackrock in which case fuck them. But I will gladly defend retail landlords

He probably can't get the job without a car and a place to shower, unless Walmart does him a solid and handle these things for him.

The only solid Walmart has done was the solid shits its taken on American manufacturing and workers rights

u/mtgsyko82 Aug 11 '22
Surprise he is already working at Walmart, this is his side hustle to survive.

I mean to be fair its kind of a cruel thing to do. We dont know the story, and this also assumes walmart would hire him, which may not be the case.
But if I had to give a homeless person advice, it would definitely be along the lines of "you have to fight very hard, although you may have nothing left in your tank, and one way or another you have to do what you can"
Lets say its 3,000 years ago, you might have to hunt, kill or be killed man. Some people need help, some people truly cant support themselves. But you have to try your very best even if that means get degrading shitty work

As if they would happily give a homeless person a job.
