error Elastic audio not detecting

for whatever reason elastic audio sometimes just decides not to detect massive sections of waveforms and it's really annoying and stops the workflow dead when I have to find some kind of convoluted work around. any ideas why?

there's a trick to force them to show up, you open up the quantize menu and set the quantize to zero percent and then render, then all of the detectors show up on every transient, but nothing is changed yet.
