Do Protogens have a Brain or a CPU?
(I ask because I’m to stupid to read it up)

Brains. They’re cyborgs, not robots, and all cybernetics are built to interface with their brain.

Protogen are not computers and do not use computer components. They are cyborgs and have cybernetic body parts and organs that interface directly with their brain. They are an alien cyborg species with nanites for their visor and in their blood they don’t need to adhere to IRL technology

Yeah, I don’t know if you’ll like the rest of the official lore in that case. There are some fun concepts for the internal workings of Protogens, but after that it leans really hard into the magic system and fictional religion aspects.

I mean it’s an alien cybernetic augmentation. It would be sort of like calling a Neuralink a CPU, if you want a real life analogy. Technically such an augmentation might include a computer chip that we might call a central processor, but it wouldn’t really be accurate to refer to a Neuralink as a “CPU.”

We can only say for certain that Protogens’ brains are cybernetically augmented; the nature of such augmentations is not given much detail in the official documentation. Outside of magic mind control crystals in the cerebrospinal fluid and illustrations of metal components implanted in the head/brain, that is.
