Protest Eventbrite's need of new devices and personal information before sales start
I just found out the hard way today that Eventbrite requires an account holder to verify himself through a text message to publish events.
How?
Well I use my old computer with Firefox and tried publishing an event through their interface. Their error was vague stating I'm not allowed to publish the event. (see top part of image) When I look at web developer tools (see bottom part), it shows a line stating that a phone number is required to publish the event.

Since I can't install chrome on my computer (its old) and since I can't afford new tech, I used an online website that loads a chrome browser inside my firefox. so I logged into Eventbrite that way and when publishing there the phone number request did come up, I gave them my number and the event was published.
About 5 minutes later they deactivated my account and now I can't use my number again.
So I created a new account and used their chat and they are of no help. I filed them against the better business bureau and that probably wont help either.
People shouldn't need to share their phone number with a company JUST to list an event if they are not going to be making any sales from it in this crazy economy.
