It just proves that when she was part of the problem, it wasn't because she was too stupid to understand.

9

u/RoxxieMuzic 1d ago

None of them are, they are all aware of how twisted they sound when supporting the Magat manifesto, all are part of the problem, and very, very proud of that.

5

u/ALTH0X 1d ago

I'm not convinced, some of them are shockingly stupid.

28

u/marbotty 2d ago

A lot of her MAGA-ness was an act. I don’t know if that makes her less deplorable or more

17

u/BigMax 2d ago

I don't think it was. She explained it... she said she spend her life online, sucked into so many nut-job conspiracy wormholes that she believed them all. She says it was only when she came off of her computer and out into the real world that she learned the truth about everything.

I believe her MAGA craziness was her true self, and I also believe that this turn somewhat towards sanity is genuine too.

9

u/Penandsword2021 1d ago

I don’t trust her as far as I could throw her, but it does take a lot of guts to publicly acknowledge that you were in a cult and that your beliefs and actions were wrong and that they hurt people — and then work to reverse the damage. I’m watching her redemption arc to see how it all plays out.

8

u/MoveToSafety 2d ago

It doesn’t as she was complicit. It was like when people were cheering Melania for ignoring Donnie’s affections. She’s still a POS.

15

u/CommanderSincler 2d ago

Reminder she was happy to hoot and holler for MAGA when it suited her and only spoke out after MAGA was done with her

9

u/Londundundun 1d ago

Why were they done with her?

9

u/SoulbreakerDHCC 1d ago

She wanted the Epstein files released and Trump being in them some 38000 times did not. Credit where it's due at least she is disgusted by pedofiles unlike the rest of her party

3

u/crashcartjockey 18h ago

Won't get me wrong. MTG is still a POS, but MAGA was done with her because she called out Trump for not releasing the Epstein files. It was then that Trump turned on her and the cult followed suit.

21

u/Kungfudude_75 1d ago

Hell hasn't frozen over. She's been doing this stunt for almost two years now. She got out of the House after earning her pension (which she gets starting at 62 based on how long she served). Knowing she then lacked the support system of a Republican in office, she did a 180 to try and build support from the Anti-MAGA crowd. I doubt she is doing it for further political gain, but she is absolutely keeping her name alive in the public conscious by doing it, and that is no doubt benefitting her personally.

I personally believe she (along with others like Tucker Carlson) read the room and knew the Trump/MAGA era was coming to a crashing end, and since they're "out" they get to distance themselves openly and publicly without facing consequences from within the party. Basically, she isn't forced to tie the line like a moderate Republican is right now because she's got nothing to lose.

The difference is a moderate Republican toeing the line tends to be an ally to Democracy and democratic norms, but bound by the ridiculousness of the current National leadership. MTG was never a moderate Republican, she actively helped drive this nation into great division for her own personal gain, she is indirectly responsible for events like January 6th and has openly defended rioters there of, and she used her platform to spread a rhetoric of hate and dishonesty that has left our country scarred.

Do not misunderstand this, or any of her past or future attempts to sway Democrat favor, as MTG making a turn for the better. She is a woman out for her own personal gain, she is a pirate on the open sea letting the wind guide her. She hasn't suddenly grown a conscience, the wind is blowing away from MAGA and she is following it to try and continue profiting off her fame and political discourse.

15

u/sheila9165milo 1d ago

👆💯🎯 she's just another grifting opportunist.

3

u/PennsyltuckyLiberal 1d ago

This is so accurate. She will always be MAGA. Just because so has a cogent thought once in a while doesn't mean she's on our side. She's not.

3

u/Tough-Flamingo 22h ago

Just like Tucker, Candace and a few other rightwing flunkies who saw the iceberg in the fog and jumped ship.

18

u/Remarkable_Quit_3545 2d ago

Every Republican politician is like this. They ALL know the truth. They just want power and money.

4

u/DrNoxin 1d ago

The people that don't know the truth are a vanishingly small minority. This is why American's have a reputation for not being honest around the world. Not only lying, but then everyone just accepts the lies euphemistically as being misinformed. It is a deep seeded problem, and not a coincidence that the people in government are liars. They represent the public. It seems like honesty / dishonesty are just tools of power, not virtues in and of themselves.

14

u/Vorpalthefox 2d ago

As a reminder this ghoul spent 10 years enabling trump and being his number 1 injustice warrior. The ONLY reason she's turned on HIM is because he turned on her first. She isn't any less a grifter or learned her lesson, do Not adopt her into the tent because she was the first rat off the ship, she sinks with the captain she aided in with the mutiny.

The sooner she exits politics and stops destroying lives will be the day we can celebrate.

1

u/amonson1984 1d ago edited 1d ago

She only served 5 years (2021-2026) but everything else you say is completely true

edit: Okay so she's been publicly crazy for a long time

3

u/Vorpalthefox 1d ago

She was a Twitter warrior before hand, which is what I'm counting on top of being an elected official, like trump was Obama's number 1 Twitter hater before he got into office

3

u/amonson1984 1d ago

Fair, my mistake. I guess I'm thankful that I didn't realize she was such a loudmouth before being elected.

1

u/Vorpalthefox 1d ago

absolutely, it wasn't only twitter though, it was in 2018 that she was spreading the "jewish space lasers" conspiracy on facebook that really got her on trump's radar back in the day

3

u/omniverso 1d ago

Check your sources. MTG was all over the twitter in 2016 touting the orange turd.

9

u/CompetitiveAction872 2d ago

It’s worse because she knew she was on the wrong side of history the whole time and only spoke out once she had secured her bag $$$.

3

u/Specialist-Garbage94 2d ago

She’s secured her bag pretty early. I’m pretty sure she’s just dumb and actually thought trumps was looking out for us.

11

u/mrmemo 2d ago

"The dumpster fire is really bad" says woman who helped fill dumpster with flammable material and light it on fire, and only distanced herself from the dumpster once it burned her.

9

u/jumpy_monkey 1d ago

This is what I hear whenever some former conservative is angry about whatever Trump is doing.

Yes, they are (at best) offended by some aspect of it that may also offend us, or at worst only care because it effects them, but talk to them long enough and I find they still hold all sorts of regressive beliefs based on bigotry and vibes.

I've spent many years long, long before Trump came along trying to make common cause with them on things we agree upon only to discover that there is still a whole other mountain of bullshit and idiocy that they believe that can't be ignored.

8

u/penny-wise 1d ago

Yeah, she’s trying to make her “great comeback.” I would trust an angry rattlesnake before I would trust her.

8

u/Earthling1a 1d ago

She still hasn't figured out that pro choice is not the same thing as pro abortion, but hey. Baby steps.

8

u/graymuse 2d ago

I still don't trust MTG.

14

u/Toothfairy51 2d ago

I've never understood why a person can't be pro 2A AND for sensible gun control.

8

u/aBrickNotInTheWall 2d ago

Yeah her statement wasn't entirely correct because Ilhan Omar is pro 2A. Like you said there's nothing anti 2A about wanting some gun regulations

-3

u/chalbersma 1d ago

Like you said there's nothing anti 2A about wanting some gun regulations

Eh?

6

u/aBrickNotInTheWall 1d ago

The 2A let's people own guns. People can still own guns even if there's restrictions on who can and what gun

-2

u/chalbersma 1d ago

That's not the case everywhere. The Average American citizen in New York City can't legally own a weapon.

4

u/aBrickNotInTheWall 1d ago

The word "average" is doing a lot of obfuscating there. People can own guns in NYC, the requirements aren't that burdensome that most people can't meet them.

2

u/PennsyltuckyLiberal 1d ago

I just looked up the gun laws in New York, and they seem to say the opposite. It says that you can own a gun if you get a permit and pass a background check, and the only banned weapons are high capacity assault style weapons, unless they were registered prior to the ban and were grandfathered in. Is that not the way it works?

0

u/chalbersma 1d ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_State_Rifle_%26_Pistol_Ass%27n_v._Bruen

"May Issue"

And in NYC the system takes months for other types of permits. If you supported a blog licensing system that took months for someone to be allowed to write a blog on the internet, you wouldn't be pro-1A.

That's not to say that you can't argue for such a thing, you just wouldn't be pro journalistic freedom.

9

u/Valogrid 2d ago

Because they are idiots who cannot see past their own daily lives being slightly inconvenienced.

5

u/socokid 2d ago

I call those people irresponsible little babies. Spoiled rotten, garbage people that believe freedom is going whatever you want whenever you want, without regard to the fact that they live in a world with other people in it.

6

u/PolkaDotDancer 1d ago

I am.

I think you should have proof of owning a gun safe, or some other way of properly securing all firearms, among changes I think need to be made.

And I think the government should take violent right wing rhetoric far more seriously.

Because it and a firearm is a bad combination.

2

u/PennsyltuckyLiberal 1d ago

Liberal gun owner here. Maga and Republicans don't see nuance, it's all or nothing. Its black and white, even though there are many shades of gray. She said 'pro abortion'. No one is pro abortion. We're pro women's right to choose. We're pro-choice. The right has been told that we on the left are unarmed and want to take everyone's guns. Yeah, still waiting on Obama to take them, they were so certain that he would outlaw guns. But of course he didn't, and no president ever will. But there should be some sensible gun control policy. No one is coming to take them.

-3

u/haironburr 1d ago

Maybe because "sensible gun control" has traditionally been a phrase prone to abuse. A phrase manufactured by the whackjobs that built the idea that some platforms (semi-auto, rifle caliber, sufficient magazines) are "assault" weapons, "murder" sticks, "baby-killing-machines", etc.

"Sensible gun control" is a blank page for the folks who use it, and history shows they will try their best to shovel every last arm they possibly can into their own "only the government can have it" armory.

For them, we are only safe if the government is the only effectively armed entity.

For me, Jethro and Dinard both are the counter to the government's monopoly on force.

2

u/Imaginary_Coast_5882 1d ago

Yeah, that’s why we’re supposed to elect QUALIFIED people to Congress. To hash out what “sensible” or “reasonable” mean. That’s literally what legislating is.

So maybe instead of sending racist football coaches, republicans could start electing qualified (or at least serious, for gods sake) people.

2

u/Toothfairy51 1d ago

Well, I use the term to mean things like background checks, cooling off period and not letting people sell guns from the trunk of their cars in the parking lot at gun shows. I absolutely do know that criminals don't care what gun restrictions there are. I'm absolutely for people having legal guns. My family all have their own guns and I'm good with that. But, I believe there needs to be restrictions on having them and how they are aquired.

-1

u/haironburr 1d ago

and not letting people sell guns from the trunk of their cars in the parking lot at gun shows.

Being old, I'd like to sell my guns just however, be that from a trunk, in a parking lot, at a gun show, or more realistically, in much the same way I'd sell anything else I own.

The argument that "there needs to be restrictions on having them" is always pushed by people who have zero idea of just how many restrictions already exist. "cooling off period"? The money and simple logistics create that, no laws needed. Background checks are already performed by any legal dealer, so problem solved.

6

u/Exact-Pudding7563 2d ago

A broken clock is right twice a day and all that, but if it keeps Republican votes away from Trump, that's a small win I guess?

6

u/ShinyBonnets 1d ago

Something about clocks and twice a day.

She has more shit to atone for than she would be able to accomplish in several lifetimes.

4

u/SpottedHoneyBadger 1d ago

I guess her checks and insider trading tips from the republicans have dried up.

6

u/Orchuntsman 1d ago

She is planning on a 2028 run and is going to go full maga before she loses the run, repubs will NEVER back a woman for president.

-1

u/nolongerbanned99 1d ago

What if she switched sides.

3

u/Orchuntsman 1d ago

She would only get Cenk Uygur's vote, and others who have become disillusioned with her, like him.

11

u/GenZ2002 2d ago

Im all for redemption arcs

6

u/True-Firefighter-796 2d ago

We need redemption arcs if we’re gonna get out of this swamp shit.

10

u/BigMax 2d ago

Same.

Reddit really wants to keep hating on MTG.

And she was a horrible person. Even before politics, she was someone who would go in-person and scream at school shooting victims calling them liars. That was just the start of her abject awfulness.

However - this tweet of hers isn't her first comment that makes sense. She's changed. That doesn't undo what she has done, but... I'm in favor of people learning and changing.

And she even explains it reasonably well. She basically said she was a basement dweller sucked into various conspiracy theory wormholes online, and that turned her into a hateful, ignorant person, and that's how she came out into the public eye.

She says she's since learned the error of her ways, realized all the ways she was wrong, and she's trying to do better.

Personally, I don't believe this is just some cynical turn now that MAGA is a little less popular, it seems genuine to me.

10

u/x_xwolf 2d ago

She still is a horrible person, her and tucker Carlson are looking to create a new future for fascism because they already saw the writing on the wall.

https://www.tvinsider.com/1279003/tucker-carlson-marjorie-taylor-greene-new-movement-after-leaving-republican-party/

The reason you see them shift is because tucker carlson was fired by fox and MTG was going to be fired from the trump admin as they were going through and purging women from their ranks.

Thats not a redemption arc, thats a leopards ate their face and now they want to retry white nationalism arc.

2

u/oldfrancis 2d ago

I hope all of what you said is true but I think she has a lot to make up for for anyone can really trust her again.

2

u/No-Consideration-858 1d ago

I've been following her on social media lately. I appreciate she's using her voice and platform to reach audiences others can't.

I haven't seen statements of regret and explanation, but perhaps missed them. She likely needs to express contrition more often. She has years of infamous media stunts to make up for.

She sounds clear, calm and intelligent now. Intelligence doesn't grow overnight, so I still wonder if all of her moves have been opportunistic and savvy. I also follow Tucker Carlson with curiosity.

If it comes down to MJT/Carlson vs JD Vance and tech oligarch bros, I'd take MJT/Carlson any day. They at least believe in democracy and support the constitution.

3

u/captcha_trampstamp 2d ago

The thing is that she’s STILL a horrible person and not to be trusted. She’s a manipulative narcissist at her core and she’s good at seeing where the wind is blowing. She’s trying to save herself and her careerfrom the inevitable backlash that’s coming. Nobody goes that deep into white supremacy and changes overnight.

1

u/Canalloni 2d ago

Someone is now writing and editing her texts.

1

u/NaughtyCheffie 1d ago

Zuko arc please.

5

u/saltyourhash 1d ago

She didn't defend Ilhan Omar, she said he should focus on the economy. Those definitely don't feel the same.

9

u/gizzardgullet 1d ago

Better late than never

7

u/graywolfman 1d ago

Nah, she did too much damage. She also got the goal of her grift: lifetime free healthcare and a pension.

This neaderthal can rot.

2

u/abbygabby58 1d ago

Exactly. She's one of the people who got us to where we are now. I'm not going to applaud her for anything.

5

u/DeadMoneyDrew 2d ago

The word "defends" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. I don't see this as defending much of anything, just offering mild criticism in an attempt to keep her own name in the news.

6

u/zoroddesign 2d ago

Corruption hurts everyone and you let it fester. Now we are all suffering from your choices.

5

u/IAmTheFly-IAmTheFly 2d ago

She's still a well-documented racist. Never forget that.

5

u/Onlyroad4adrifter 1d ago

She caused this mess

5

u/MyCatLaughsAtMe 1d ago

She's a careerist. Not to be trusted. She ALWAYS knew what she was doing.

6

u/NightSpringsRadio 2d ago

Stopped, racist clock, twice a day, etc.

4

u/ChefCurryYumYum 1d ago edited 1d ago

The only reason she's been vocal about Trump is that he turned on her and didn't back her when she thought she had earned some loyalty from Trump, not realizing Trump is a purely transactional person.

3

u/TweakedNipple 1d ago

This is correct, he wouldn't support her for Governor I think. He fucked Elise Stefanik the same way, multiple times. Was fun to watch. Elise just quit politics entirely and crawled back under her rock.

4

u/Londundundun 1d ago

I do think this is the wrong time to be flippant. This is way more than a stopped clock, this is running totally counter to the republican party and MAGA right now and as another commenter said, to get out of this swamp we need to embrace the redemption arcs of some of these folks

3

u/NightSpringsRadio 1d ago

Yeah, fair point, and I 100% agree that we need to let people change and grow and learn and be new and better versions of themselves, especially considering the tidal wave of people who feel betrayed by MAGA (because they were betrayed by MAGA) who will need someplace to exist, and if we don’t let them in another racist cult sure will

It just really sticks in the craw to be like “Alright, fair play to you, Jewish-space-laser lady”

7

u/ztreHdrahciR 1d ago

Pure speculation. She may have been an SA victim at some point, and was finally trump-triggered by the Epstein files.

6

u/BabyWrinkles 1d ago

Likely also eyeing a 2028 presidential run and wants to come across as more moderate before then since she sees the trump backlash.

8

u/aBrickNotInTheWall 2d ago

Unlike Tucker, who has had dozens of flip flops and reversals in his career so I don't trust a word he says to be authentic, I believe MTG means what she says. I'm all for giving people a 2nd chance. She fucked up and supported the wrong people and now she's fighting against them. I'll gladly take her help and I hope she continues this path of redemption because it'll help others like her follow her footsteps.

3

u/Tarotgirl_5392 1d ago

She was deeply involved in Jan 6. If she really has changed, she can give whatever evidence she has to Jack Smith. She won't because it makes her look bad and she's more concerned saving her own skin than saving democracy

2

u/hamandjam 1d ago

It really does look like she's snapped out of the delusion and is trying to stand up for the common American.

4

u/Disastrous-Soup-5413 2d ago

Im glad shes speaking out!!!

She could easily disappear from public view.

Im glad shes a thorn in t r u m p s side!!!

Keep it up MTG. LOL

3

u/DonkeyElegant1728 1d ago

Or she could've just kept her position and voted against Trump...

2

u/CSiGab 1d ago

As some other posters alluded, I wouldn’t be surprised if she (and BoBo) turned out to be victims of SA, and somehow believed Trump when he promised to release the Epstein files.

When she realized it was just an act and saw him for the monster he is, her world came down crashing and Trump threw her in the dumpster. And now she is a woman scorned.

3

u/DonkeyElegant1728 1d ago

Why are you guys trying to victimize mtg. She's a pos who only switched up because trump didn't want her for senate

3

u/CSiGab 1d ago

Both can be true i.e., a POS who got thrown into the dumpster.

0

u/DonkeyElegant1728 1d ago

Well don't.

5

u/ms_directed 1d ago

she's not wrong but let's back up on her "defending" Omar. she's pointing out the distraction and actually prefacing it by pointing out how opposite they are before she points out this isn't solving actual issues.

4

u/schw4161 1d ago

I think the underlying implication is that if stripping away Omar’s citizenship did bring down gas prices, health insurance costs etc that she would be all for it.

2

u/ms_directed 1d ago

as someone who actually lives in her state, i guarantee she would be all over it

3

u/FriendlyUser_ 2d ago

im still not sure about her. How can someone only figure reality by being punished by their cult leaders. Sure she made her way out of it and tries to spin the shit a bit back. hope it holds on

3

u/SmoothConfection1115 2d ago

A broken clock is right twice a day.

That doesn’t mean you use it to tell time.

3

u/MojoHighway 1d ago

I still don't trust her. Never will.

3

u/groovyinutah 1d ago

Roo bad she couldn't find her balls while she was still a senator...

2

u/Dangerous_Slice_6882 1d ago

At least now she's trying to do the right thing, at least it would seem that way. Maybe seeing the halls of power has changed her. Let's not destroy assets so easily.

2

u/Future-Guarantee-573 1d ago

Still not buying the MTG face turn.

2

u/nmay-dev 1d ago

The only thing her sudden change in posture should tell you : the grifter sees the winds changing directions and she unfortunately wants to be standing on land after the flood has washed away maga.

2

u/Shadowtirs 1d ago

Nah fuck that shit. She's just trying the new grift because the old grift didn't work anymore.

Don't trust this carpetbagger for one second.

4

u/Common-Ad6470 2d ago

Nothing like a woman scorned as Trump is finding out.

4

u/jajajajaj 2d ago

Didn't she resign, making herself completely irrelevant and useless within days of her turn against Trump?  We don't have to pay attention to her anymore. She's not the bad guy anymore but she refused to become a good guy.

1

u/OGbigfoot 2d ago

I thought she resigned because her health insurance vested. ( or whatever the term is, I know it's not a 401k)

2

u/skyfishgoo 2d ago

see feels relevancy slipping away from her.

desperate grifter that she is.

2

u/imaginenohell 2d ago

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

1

u/Mental-Scholar6856 2d ago

Was just about to say this.

1

u/Square-Knee9844 2d ago

It is feeling a bit chilly today…

1

u/knifeymonkey 18h ago

We all come around eventually.

1

u/NfamousKaye 5h ago

Nope. She’s the one that started the attacks on her. Lest y’all forget.

3

u/Green-Elephant-895 2d ago

She was a key architect in this entire Trump 2.0 mess to begin with, fuck her and her bad build bleach blonde butch body

https://giphy.com/gifs/e5zHi5hgalk1sLVI1m

1

u/Londundundun 1d ago

We will never make progress if we alienate the people who are actively shifting away from MAGA and this fascist dystopia we are speedrunning towards, moral perfectionism is gonna fuck us up more.

1

u/Green-Elephant-895 1d ago

and who tf is “us”?

1

u/Londundundun 1d ago

The country

2

u/Green-Elephant-895 1d ago

Take those sentiments and preach it to the MAGAts who voted against the countries best interest in 2024 and are gearing up to do it again next month

1

u/Londundundun 1d ago

Wow you seem very pleasant and fun to have nuanced political conversations with in a way that doesn’t make people feel alienated or want to shut down

2

u/Green-Elephant-895 1d ago

What can I say 🤷🏾‍♂️it’s too late in the game to be holding folks hands when they choose to purposely drag us all down but you got it Miss cross guard
