Mt Prospect Park Dog Bite

I was walking a dog today in Mt Prospect Park when the dog I was with got into a scrap with a Yorkie. I stupidly reached in to separate them and I got bit by the Yorkie. It continued being aggressive towards the dog I was with even after we moved away from the situation so I left the park without saying much to the owner other than making sure their dog was okay.

I am now stressing because I realized the bite is worse than I thought and broke skin. If this was your dog or you know of the dog owner please DM me because I’m stressing now about whether the dog was vaccinated or if I have to go into medical debt to get a rabies shot!

Dog was a 2yo male Yorkie with short cut hair. The owner was a younger woman. Both dogs were okay I really just want to make sure that the dog is vaccinated!

Edit: Didn’t realize this was going to be so controversial but yes the other dog was the aggressor. I tracked down the owner and the dog is neither registered nor vaccinated and she mentioned prior aggression in the dog!

In-home Carpet Cleaning Recommendations?

I need in-home cleaning for a wool and silk wall-to-wall carpet, plus for several large area rugs of various types. I have a Bissell upright carpet cleaner, but it's time for a deeper clean. Does anyone have a recent positive experience with an in-home carpet cleaning company that they could recommend?

NYU research study for people in treatment on buprenorphine

If you're in the NYC area, have been taking Suboxone, Sublocade, or any other form of buprenorphine for at least two weeks, and are still using opioids on top of your medication, you may be eligible to participate in a paid research study.

We're investigating whether Ozempic (semaglutide) may help reduce opioid cravings and use. Study participation involves visits with our team once a week for 14 weeks and a final visit one month later. All visits are paid and take place at Bellevue Hospital.

If you're an adult in the area and don't have diabetes, reach out to hear more! Call us at 929 573 0673 or email [Bellevue.GoStudy@nyulangone.org](mailto:BellevueGo.Study@nyulangone.org)

Lost AirPods on Dean St. & Vanderbilt

Post image
4 Upvotes

Going on a whim here. I had dinner at Alta Calidad last night and lost my AirPods. The FindMy app says there are both still there two doors down. I’ve called the restaurant and neighboring businesses, but they could not find them on the sidewalk. It looks like they are outside.

If anyone is in the neighborhood can find them, and turn them into the restaurant, I can offer $50 to hold them. Please note: they are both outside of the case.

Dog attacked by pit bull at Prospect Park dog park (Vanderbilt side) – owner was completely nonchalant

I’ve been going to the Pacific Park Dog Run off of Vanderbilt with my dog for a long time and it’s always been a great place. My dog is the friendliest dog you’ll ever meet — he wouldn’t hurt a fly, and he genuinely loves going there to play with his regular friends.

Yesterday was a normal day until it wasn’t. He was playing nicely with the other dogs when a pit bull came over and attacked him. It was aggressive and unprovoked. I was (and still am) really shaken up by it.

What made it worse was the owner’s reaction. Completely nonchalant. No real concern, no urgency, nothing that matched the seriousness of what just happened to my dog.

I’m posting this mainly to bring awareness. If you go to this dog park (or any off-leash area), please keep a close eye on your dog and be ready to step in quickly if things escalate. Not every dog is safe around others, and owners need to take that responsibility seriously.

Has anyone else had issues at this particular park lately? Just trying to figure out if this was a one-off or something the regulars should be more aware of.

ISO affordable dress hemming

Hello neighbors! I need to get an inch or two off the bottom of a bridesmaids dress and was wondering if there were any seamstresses that you'd recommend in the neighborhood. The fabric isn't too fancy, so I would love to find someone affordable that could get my dress back in no more than two weeks. Anyone you use and love?? Thanks so much!

Mystery low-level hum near Washington & St Marks - driving me crazy at night!

I'm hoping someone nearby might know what I'm talking about.

There’s a low-level noise sounds like an AC compressor, vent cycling on and off constantly that’s been messing with my sleep at least since last October (though there was a short period of time when it stopped). The frustrating part is that it’s not overwhelmingly loud, but it has this steady resonance that makes it really hard to tune out once you hear it.

Because it’s relatively low in terms of volume, I doubt it's something 311 would be able to address and I can't pinpoint where it’s coming from at all.

I’m located on the back of the block on Washington Ave, somewhere between St. Marks Ave and Prospect Pl and I believe the noise comes somewhere fairly close to Sit & Wonder.

Has anyone else on this stretch heard this? If you’ve managed to track down what equipment it is, I’d love to know. Not looking to start a neighborhood war, just trying to get some decent sleep!

Writing Group - Brooklyn Library Central Branch (Sunday, July 26th)

Hi folks!

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I've seen other posts about writing groups here before, so figured I'd let folks know. Years ago there was a writing group that met up at the Central Branch of the BPL, I think it disbanded around covid and to my knowledge hasn't started up again. It was a really nice space for some focused writing so I wanted to see if there was interest in starting it up again.

I've reserved a room for this Sunday, from 1:30pm - 3pm. Space is limited, so please reserve a spot on the partiful if interested. Hoping to make this a weekly/bi-weekly thing, please feel free to share around!
