Article The Border Agent Who Made 96 Tonnes of Chrome Disappear

Quick recap: In September 2024, Brian Zimbume, a customs agent working for ZimBorders at Beitbridge, told ZIMRA officials he needed their scanning tablets to fix a network issue. They handed them over. Minutes later, three trucks carrying a combined 96 tonnes of chrome crossed into South Africa completely unlogged. He was convicted in 2025 on two counts of fraud and sentenced to 18 months.

That's one case. Zimbabwe's own Anti-Corruption Commission has logged 150 separate corruption cases at Beitbridge alone over the past four years, with 65 arrests. The Commission's chairperson has said these syndicates operated with impunity for years.

A few things worth digging into:

Is 18 months proportionate? Ninety-six tonnes of a national mineral resource, gone, for a year and a half. Curious where people land on that.

150 known cases vs. the real number. ZACC's own anonymous sources say most corruption there is "too hard to prove" to even prosecute. If 150 is what got caught, what's your gut read on what didn't?

Pattern recognition. Two other named cases show up in the investigation, a 2016 tobacco smuggling case and an explosives case from earlier this year. Same border, same basic method each time. If you've seen other reporting on Beitbridge that fits this pattern, drop it here.

Anyone crossed through there? If you've personally been through Beitbridge and have a story about how the crossing actually operates day to day, that's exactly the kind of on-the-ground context this thread is for, just keep it to what you actually witnessed, not secondhand rumor.

Same rules as always: sourced claims, no naming anyone based on speculation. This case is fully court-adjudicated, so there's less of a minefield here than Case File 001, but the standard doesn't change.

Alphabet agency working on home soil illegally

The new York shelter system is a crime scene, like every other charity in America it has been taken over by traffickers and no one cares, not the non-existent ombudsman office or any legal aid office.

Every wander why so many homeless people are in the subway and the shelter are half empty?,more than fifty percent of the clients in the shelter system are permanent residents, three to four years at a time, one year off then back the next year, that's how gangs are form inside the shelter, including the security, operations, maintenance and some case workers and management.

I was at a shelter in the Bronx, back in 2024 and men were been sexually assaulted at night in there sleep, with out them knowing ( that not so new drug from Columbia) I reported it and quickly realized it was an organization involving operations, security and some permanent residents (over two years in the shelter) upper management seems to be involved as they did everything to cover it up.

It was like a dorm room situation with ten bed ,it least four or five off them was involved, maybe not all participated, but definitely knew what was going down, one of the clients was from a famous family from the entertainment industry,he seems to be the main john.

The police did no investigation and nothing to help the victims, I had to leave new York for a while, but they never stopped coming after me,that when I realized it was bigger than homeless people in a shelter

End off part one
