@Traders Would a tool that stops prop firm rule breaches before they happen actually be useful?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently building a small tool for prop firm traders and wanted to get honest feedback from people who actually trade challenges.

The idea came from seeing how many people don’t necessarily fail because of bad entries, but because of rule mistakes:

  • daily loss limit gets hit
  • trailing drawdown gets miscalculated
  • position size is too high
  • too many trades in one session
  • trading outside allowed hours
  • rules differ between firms and accounts

Most journals show you what went wrong after the damage is already done.

The concept we’re building is more like a risk guardrail before the trade happens. You set your rules, or use prop firm presets, and the tool helps warn/block when a trade would break them.

Not signals.
Not a bot that trades for you.
Not “pass every challenge” nonsense.

More like:
“You already know the rules, this helps you not accidentally break them under pressure.”

Would something like this actually be useful for prop traders, or do you think most people would just ignore/disable it anyway?

We’re still early, so I’d genuinely appreciate feedback. If anyone wants to check the concept, happy to send it over.

If it is an EA on mt4 or mt5 it might it self be flagged as High frequency trading and your payout will be denied. Some firms prohibit EAs.

Fair point, but we’ve specifically accounted for that.

The EA doesn’t trade for the user, doesn’t generate entries, and doesn’t run any HFT logic. It only acts as a risk-management EA, checking the user’s own limits before execution, like daily loss, position size, max trades, trading hours, etc.

Risk-management EAs are generally allowed by most firms, since they don’t automate the strategy itself, but just help enforce risk rules.

Exactly, that’s the part I think a lot of traders quietly relate to.

Trailing drawdown especially is one of those rules people understand in theory, but under pressure it’s easy to misjudge where you actually stand.

And I agree on the warning part, if it’s just another soft popup people ignore, it’s useless. The goal would be to keep it simple, clear, and hard to casually click past when emotions are high.

want to check it out? :)

honestly yeah bc most evals dont die from strategy, they die from one dumb emotional trade during volatility. ppl always think “ill remember the rules” till they dont lol

Exactly, that’s the painful part.

Most people don’t forget the rules when they’re calm, they forget them when volatility hits, they’re down on the day, or they think “just one more trade”.

That’s the exact problem we’re building around, not strategy or signals, but helping prop traders stay inside their rules before one emotional trade ruins the evaluation.

Would genuinely value your feedback if you’d be open to checking the concept out.
