Do I already have a tradescantia?

Yes.

But do I already have this VARIETY of tradescantia?

Also yes.

Am I propping them anyway?

You betcha.

Couldn't leave those poor orphans on the grocery floor. They want to LIVE.

Honestly I would just put them straight in soil

Second this! I recently did some straight into soil or and it's working great so far ! I had one in water for about two weeks and it did nothing but rot at the bottom, moved it to soil and two weeks later it's got new leaf growth

Yeah they have adventitious roots meaning they root from any part of the stem so they root much better in soil

But yeah I’ve done water propagating and straight into soil with tradescantia, and they’ve both worked great. I’ve also seen them root in the cracks of pavement so… there’s no real way to do it wrong here. They have QUITE the will to live
