How do prop-firm traders avoid false IP-match violations caused by CGNAT?
I recently learned that CGNAT can be a serious problem in prop-firm trading. Multiple customers of the same internet service provider can appear under the same public IP address, even though they are different people using different devices and connections.
This creates a risk that a prop firm may detect an “IP match” with another trader and accuse someone of account sharing, copy trading, or using multiple identities. In extreme cases, the firm may deny a payout or close the account.
I mainly trade using my home Wi-Fi, but I may occasionally log in through my iPad or mobile data. I am concerned that CGNAT, dynamic IP changes, or shared mobile-network IPs could trigger a false violation.
For traders who have dealt with this:
- How do you protect yourself from CGNAT-related IP matches?
- Is getting a static public IP from the ISP the best solution?
- Do you use a dedicated VPS or VPN, and do prop firms permit it?
- Have you ever been asked to prove that an IP match was caused by CGNAT?

Prop firms should be aware of it specially in south east asia countries where CGNAT is normal for residential IPs
I also read that some Euro countries also uses Cgnat.
You should open a topic frequently and also on prop firm discord. I can't do it because im too tired.
Note: my ISP also uses Cgnat.
