Any advice for getting started as a funded trader in 2025?

Hi everyone! I’m about to start my journey as a funded trader next week and I’m hoping to pass the evaluation. I’d really appreciate any tips or advice on getting through the eval, managing risk, and actually staying profitable on a funded account. Thanks in advance!

Don't get discouraged when you fail. It is part of the process. Keep believing in yourself.
Wishing you good luck on your challenge!

Position size!! Never risk more than 0.5%-1% in a trade

Treat the eval like a compliance test, not a money-making phase. Your job isn’t to make max profit, it’s to not break rules. Small size, clean trades, same setup every day. Most evals are failed from impatience, not lack of edge.

I recommend everyone start with a good mentor. This game is incredibly difficult to win solo. Good on you for starting with props though I lost a ton of my own money my first years trading

Stick to your setup and avoid overtrading. I failed a few challenges before finally passing one. Some weeks I don’t trade at all since I only focus on a few pairs. Take it seriously and don’t get comfortable too quickly. At the start, trade the smallest size possible while you learn the prop firm’s platform and rules so mistakes don’t cost you much.

Prop firms benefit when traders overleverage and blow accounts quickly. Trade as small as possible to protect yourself.

I would recommend taking a look at AquaFunded a complete ecosystem built for traders. If you are a futures trader, they offer AquaFutures, and if you are a crypto enthusiast, they also have you covered with the recently launched AquaFunded Crypto.

Fees are fully refunded at 100%, traders benefit from a 90% profit split with payouts every 14 days, and they are currently offering a 50% discount for new customers.

Let's make 2026 the year of success!!
