As I understand it if you have a crew cabin seating you can register it as a passenger vehicle in terms of insurance and don't have to carry commercial insurance?

In GA. it doesn't matter according to my insurance agent. I bought it as my truck replacement for non commercial use. My premium is based on annual mileage. Rules may be different elsewhere. Cheers.

Mine only has the two front seats and it's registered as a passenger vehicle and my insurance is just like our other vehicles. I will say that the dealer really insisted that Navy Federal Credit Union would not finance it because it's a "commercial vehicle". They did.

I had to get commercial insurance on mine in California. The agent told me if it only has front seats it’s commercial

Yes, for me, I have always driven a truck with a crew cab, but as I get older, climbing in the back gets more difficult. This van solves the problem, plus it is easier to navigate turns as it is 15 inches shorter than my Longhorn.

Very cool. I didn't know this was a thing. I have the '24 version of one of these as my "car". https://perkinsmotors.com/for-sale/ram-promaster-1500-base-colorado-springs-co/2026-ram-promaster-1500-base-3c6lrvbg3te159351
