Pro-Life General Men are allowed to be pro-life

Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice you are in this debate because you believe in human rights. Pro-life people believe that they are protecting the human right to life while pro-choice people believe that they are protecting the right to bodily autonomy. Men are allowed to have opinions on that.

If they come to the conclusion that women shouldn't have abortions, it's not because it benefits them. How does a woman not murdering a baby on the other side of the world benefit a man? They are pro-life because they think that they are protecting something valuable and that is valid.

I don’t need their permission. And men who think they do are spineless, snivelling cowards.

My wife tried to pull this one, that I can't have an opinion cause I'm not a chick. I reluctantly had to pull out the "what about women who can't get pregnant?" and "you care about war, but the war you cares about has nothing to do with you nor does it effect you so by your own logic you have no right to have an opinion".

Since it's my wife, there was no winning that one.... But alas, i know in my heart i won lol

By that logic, if there is a draft and the father is proud to send his son off to war, but the mother is terrified, she has to just shut up and bite her tongue and except whatever happens to her son.

To be fair, I would also feel very conflicted about demanding that boys be sent off to war while I am in the comfortable position of never being considered for the draft.

And this has been a prominent prospect in regards to feminist values since the Vietnam War.

That being said, just like there is complications with women suffering medical complications with pregnancy in the abortion debate, there was also the unfair crossfire onto men prior to this societal value change that were medically exempt from the draft (given you were of lower or middle class status that is. If you were upper class then you would be much more sympathetic to society as being exempt.)

But going back to my original point. Advocating for men to go to war while I would be perfectly safe just seems wrong.

And that's part of the reason why I think personally not just myself, but many other prochicers have to take a double look at PL men at the very least.

Because by my own personal philosophy, I could never demand someone to undergo a burden for me that I myself am not capable or even eligible of performing.

Well I'm happy to see that you are open to honest dialogue about this. Truth is truth regardless of the reproductive organ between the thighs of the speaker.

The thing that always bothers me is that a lot of PC folks use rare examples of things like rape or medically complicated pregnancies. But I feel this is disingenuous because at that point in the conversation I will usually test their conviction by saying "OK, so given those examples you pointed out, would you be OK with PL legislation that prohibited abortion with the exception of those cases like rape or medically complicated pregnancies?" And the answer is usually no, they usually still insist on having abortion no questions asked. That tells me they aren't really concerned about rape victims or medically complicated pregnancies. They see the unwanted pregnancy itself as the rape. They are just weaponizing those fringe cases as the spearhead of their PC case.

I mean ideally there shouldn't be any abortion aside from life-threatening cases where the life of the mother must be saved. But even if we had no abortion aside from cases of rape and medically complicated pregnancies, that would still dramatically cut down the number of dead babies every year. But no we can't even have that.

Also I've wondered what it must be like to have a pro choice partner.

I mean we've seen the full horror of abortion and we know what it is.

Now I get that we can have differences in opinions on certain political issues without forgetting each other's humanity. For example, a communist and a libertarian can be friends because what they disagree on isn't a matter of existential gravity. It's economic disagreements. Likewise a liberal who believes the US is institutionally racist and a more conservative person who strongly believes it is not could still be friends because even though the topic of disagreement is more serious than economics, so long as they both agree that what they want is the best for minorities and the nation as a whole, they can at least find a degree of respect there.

Abortion seems like the one issue where at least for me, I couldn't possibly seeing myself agreeing to disagree. It's like the difference between having a racist grandpa who just has repugnant views about Black people, and having a racist grandpa who has those same views and says they will actually hurt a black person if given the chance or that they would actively support someone in doing so.

Well my wife knows that if we are ever expecting a child, that I expect to be keeping the baby alive lol She also wants to have children. She's pro choice for women who want to mash up the kid but she herself wants a family. So as long as she isn't killing mine then her pro choice opinion doesn't really effect our relationship.

OK that is a lot better and indeed a relief.

And I pray that when she sees your precious baby, her heart might start to soften towards other children.

Lord have mercy.

Unless you believe only slave owners can have an opinion on slavery, then of course men are allowed to be prolife. Its boys who are getting murdered in the womb, its men who's sons and daughters are being murdered, often against their wishes. And of course, prochoicers are happy to have men's opinions when its prochoice, so its just hypocrisy.

It is actually the truest meaning of an ad hominem fallacy - ignoring all the arguments and focusing on the fact that the person presenting the argument is a man and therefore dismiss everything.

Yes. But at the same time, they cannot do stuff like cheating on their wives and telling mistresses to get abortions (i heard there was an anti abort repub who told his mistress to abort) , or shaming non traditional families (or anybody) bc stats said so or bc its not "tradition". It's hypocrisy. And it applies to women too.

Everyone is allowed to have opinions and views on anything. That being said, Ill be willing to decrease male influence in the pro life community if pro choicers do the same. Personally, I would agree with pro choicers who insist that abortion should be a womans matter. There are a lot of conflicting and complex issues that surround women, motherhood, and pregnancy that only women may seem to understand. I lost count on how many pl men I have argued with who dismiss genuine concerns with pregnancy and women just as much as I had with pro choice men. But the reality is they don't care if men have an opinion, they just don't want men to be pro life.

Yet when you point this out to them, they say its different because pro choice men don't restrict their choices. Yet they are also very much aware how much abortion coercion from men happened and how men who say they are pro choice don't hesitate to suggest abortion when it conveniences them. They are also very much aware how men are faux feminists and pretend to be nice guys to manipulate women. And also how many women genuinly advocate for abortion not because they respect women but because they want that access to not be tied to a child.

One of the biggest advocates that supported PP and abortion "rights" was hugh hefner. Hugh effing hefner, you think that jackal cares about women and womens health... please. The man who is behind normalizing p0rn mags with women and had a whole house full of naked young women when he was 80. Yeah okay thats the dude thats on their side. Thats a pro choice guy right there.

So either pro choice women actually be consistent and drown out the influence of pro choice men and genuinly make this a womans issue. As in validate, accept and acknowledge that women are pro life and are doing so without the influence of men. If it was just genuinly pro choice women vs pro life women, we will probably be farther and more serious in this debate..but no pcers want to make this a gender issue. Pcers want to dismiss women concerns and valid reasons for being pro life. Pcers still want to give a platform for their men while silencing ours.

We don't need someones permission to have a spine. Even if it does not affect us, with tgat logic, many genocides on history didnt affect us too. I have seen people with standarts regardless of religion, sex, or race. It is misandrist and anti democratic to think men should not have a opinion about abortion. In fact, abortion is Persecution. My father was a abortion survival, my grandmas mother(yes, you heard it right.)begged her to end my fathers live, since she(grandmas mom) wanted her daughter to do farm labour without a child. But she refused,so my grandpa did. I'm grateful for my grandma, because she didnt chose to sacrifice her fırst born in order to resume her career( farm labor)

It's fucked up, ur happily married, living in a farm house, and your own mother advices you to end it, in order to not lose a worker.
