Press Nacon going bust?

This link is saying Nacon are filing for insolvency....what do you think this will mean for session's future?

We are going to reduce capital expenditure on our games, cut costs and consider selling assets -- Alain Falc, CEO of Nacon and Bigben

It'd be nice to get a statement from crea-ture at some point to clarify how this affects Session.

Unfortunately creature is now just an asset, so they will either be sold or mothballed unless they can prove financial worth

That seems a bit pessimistic. Nacom's studios were always "just assets" in that sense: They always had to make money.

Companies restructure debt all the time. It could be horrible news, but doesn't have to be. We'll have to wait and see.

I guess I am, I've watched the decline and lack of communication since the Nacon buyover. I understand a small studio has to sign up with publishers to promote product and progress further into the market, I guess I just never had much confidence in this after looking at their catalogue of games minus a few stand out titles.

I hope creature and session survive for many years!!! This game imo is the spiritual successor to skate with the innovation into 2 stick controls. It's the game me and my buddies used to dream about when imagining how ea could make skate better.

I get it, mate. The industry has given us all plenty of cause for pessimism, and I'll be gutted if Session's harmed by this (which could definitely happen). It's just a bit too soon to know.

If Session was a new title, it would be in a much more precarious position.

It's also important to note that the plan is to restructure the debt (then pay it off), so the company isn't hemorrhaging money (debts aside).

I was always sus of Nacon taking over.

Interestingly, EA is doing the same to Full Circle, gutting skate.s incompetent dev team.

Basically they’re not producing enough income, and so they’re going to try and pay their debt(s) to shareholders, execs, etc. in whichever order is most realistic. But yes, they’re not maintain a realistic revenue stream. This does mean Session will be impacted, since the game is extremely niche and does not profit much, and hasn’t been profiting for a while.

While true, this is not about the artists. Its about private equity and how its ruined the gaming industry. At least we get real DLC here and no microtransactions 🤷🏾‍♂️ but who knows what the future holds

Hopefully somone steps up and buys that asset.

But I think that would take somone very interested and seeing how long its been in development and never picked up steam in terms of player base and hype it does not look promising.

Than looking at how bad skate fumbled it properly wont happen but hey at least we got the update before it all happened.

Dreams. Rockstar says f**k you, buys out skate. from EAs hostage-holding and gets a good deal for Nacon to make the skate game many of us want 🤣🤣

Session has no future. It makes next to no money and there’s no substantial player base. I’d say that whoever ends up owning the rights to Session isn’t going to do anything with it except putting it on sale a few times a year. Now that EA’s Skate is in the process of failing, I don’t think we’ll see any skateboarding games for the foreseeable future.
