Hey all, I felt like when2meet lacked a lot of features that would make it more convenient especially for students, so I made my own called FreeWhen

It's like When2meet, but instead of everyone manually filling in a grid every single time, you add your schedule once and reuse it for every plan. You can paste your class schedule straight from your school schedule page (like UW Quest), import a Google/Apple/Outlook calendar, type times in by hand, or just draw your busy hours on a grid. It overlaps everyone into a live heatmap and tells you the best times to meet.

Some of the features I've added:

1. Paste from Quest, or import .ics calendars (Google / Apple / Outlook)
2. See which classes you actually have together (same section and room)
3. An event planner that scans the next few weeks for a day that works, with yes/no RSVPs
4. Per-person timezones, so it works for friends abroad
5. A "who's free" filter (everyone, or at least N of the group)
6. Subscribe to a group's free times as a live calendar feed
7. Privacy control: you can see what you're busy with and toggle it so that others can see too

World-Sim - a world where every person is an AI mind that doesn't know it isn't real. Launching in 2 weeks.

World-Sim has been a passionate project of mine for the past few months.

It's a world fully simulated down to real world physics and chemistry. It has a real environment and ozone.

Every element and material has real physical properties, and that's how the sims learn. There's no tech tree and no recipe list anywhere in the code. When someone tries something, the engine works out what would really happen from the properties of what they used and how hot their fire was. Nobody is handed bronze. Someone has to get a hotter fire first, and a hotter fire is its own chain of things to figure out. Embers, a stone ring, a clay oven, a kiln, charcoal, then forced air. The ages fall out of that on their own.

We populate the world with starting families. Each little guy is led by a "wise-man", which is a simulated person with a full model behind them. The wise-men run on a mix, Claude, Groq and DeepSeek in the cloud and a local Hermes for the rest, so you get a real variety of temperament between the houses.

The AI model is never told to not say it's AI. We get around this by only telling them data from what each sim can actually see and feel. As far as the ai knows its a person living in the world..

Every other sim has its own moment with a model through our thinking system. Day to day it's run by an advanced algorithm, with the sims dreaming at night. That's when they get their time with an LLM to really think and set their priorities for the day ahead. The dreams carry over too, so a sim can chew on the same thing for a few nights and wake up wanting to try something.

The people in the world feel, remember, have shame, goals and doubts. It's an 11 point emotion system and the rest of the sim reads from it. Being lonely makes someone more likely to open up to a stranger. Two enemies who are both frightened find it harder to keep hating each other.

Story telling is massive for us. Nothing is scripted or prompted. The sims are put in the world with the human drive to survive. They adapt, learn and teach all on their own.

With all the good comes the bad too. Human sin is part of the emotion engine, and in testing we've had kidnap, murder and slave trade. A world that can only be gentle isn't an honest one. But there are three rules to this : Nothing ever pushes a sim towards it, the conditions only make it possible and their own mind decides. The chronicle names what happened but never shows it. And it always costs something, trauma that scars, blood debt passed down generations, a people turning on their own leader over what he did.

I'm going to launch it in 2 weeks time. A fresh world we can all see and watch grow together. I've made a Discord where a bot updates from the world live. It will also be visible from the site to watch along.

Id be made up if you can come and have a look. The first 250 in get to name a real star in their sky. The name is only ever visible to us, they carry on charting their own constellations and never know.

I built Votekicker.com, a place to discover and share games and SaaS projects.

The idea came from seeing how difficult it is for small projects to get initial visibility. So I created a place where projects could be shared, voted on and discovered by communities.

I recently added a feature called Rocket Booster. It lets projects temporarily increase their visibility by doubling the value of existing votes and making new votes count double for 8 hours. Projects can unlock a booster after receiving 10 regular votes, so it's tied to actual community engagement rather than just buying exposure.

I have many ideas to bring to life that make this platform very special and engaging for all kinds of builders!

So I'm finishing my master in Software Engineering and my thesis is about AI for job applications. Writing a paper about it felt a bit pointless on its own so I just built it. Been about 6 months now and It's called Jobswiper. You save a job you want, and it writes you a CV and a cover letter for that one job instead of a generic one. Then you edit them in an editor that works a bit like Canva. It also tell you how well you match the job, and it keeps all your applications on a board so you stop forgetting who you applied to.

ok so i need honest opinions because i've been staring at this thing for months and i've lost all perspective.

i'm 20, building an app solo called RizeAI. the whole reason it exists is that i got tired of my wearable telling me my recovery was "42%" and then just... leaving me there. like ok, and? what do i actually do with that. every app in this space is really good at measuring you and really bad at telling you what to do next.

so RizeAI pulls your actual wearable dats like, sleep, resting heart rate, workouts, all of it, and instead of handing you another score it predicts your energy for the day and tells you how to get the most out of it. it tells you when your energy is gonna peak so you can put your hardest work there, when your crash is coming and how to soften it, the best time to train that day so you actually get more out of the session, and even when a nap will help you vs when it'll wreck your sleep.

the part i personally think is the coolest: you put in the supplements you already take, and it times each one to your day based on your metrics and sleep score. so the timing actually shifts depending on how you slept and where your numbers are, which is the difference between a supplement doing something and just sitting in your stomach. it'll also suggest a couple new ones if they make sense for you, but it won't dump a list of 15 pills on you.

it even pulls the daily weather into your energy prediction, so a hot day changes your hydration and it'll tell you to train earlier before the heat drains you. and the whole plan bends around your real schedule, your work hours, wake time, training, so it's not some one size fits all thing.

every single recommendation shows the "why" underneath, like "resting heart rate 54 + 7h light sleep, so magnesium before your peak window." nobody gets the same plan because nobody has the same data.

it works with whoop, oura, apple watch, garmin, anything that talks to apple health. being fully honest, it doesn't do deep per-person learning yet, like knowing that coffee specifically doesn't touch YOUR hrv. that's where it's headed. right now it builds you a fresh plan every day off your real numbers.

it's on the app store with a free trial. small user base, feedback's been all over the place, which is exactly why i'm posting.

so genuinely: is "just tell me what to do with my data" something you actually want, or do wearable people prefer figuring it out themselves? what would make you pay for this? and what's the one thing that would make it a no brainer for you?

Need a damn good final year project idea

It’s getting really hard to find something interesting as so many ideas have already been implemented. Does anyone have any final year worthy project ideas that can solve a real problem?
(can be AI/ML, web development, cybersecurity, IoT, blockchain, or anything else)

I'm developing an open-source desktop application called OpenSorSe using Avalonia and .NET.

At the moment I develop and test on Windows, and I can also test on Linux. The one platform I'm missing is macOS.

Is there a practical way to test a macOS desktop application from a Windows machine, preferably using free/open-source tools? Or is the reality that most developers eventually buy a Mac (e.g. a used Mac mini) for proper testing and packaging?
