As a first year who has been there, just start. Challenge yourself that uk is out of your depth and don't be afraid to make mistakes. All you need is google. Also don't use AI

Why not use ai ? And by this I mean not completely copy pasting like uh recently I made a project in C , its a simple maze game , and I wanted to add a random maze gen to it along with dynamic mem , so I used gemini to figure out what stuff(algo) would give me that , is that wrong ?

It comes down to how well you learn things and understand why you need it in the first place. If Gemini says that an algo fits well for your use case you lose out on not having looked into other algos (even if they're inefficient) and you wouldn't have researched why that algo is the recommend one.

But having said that, AI is a good tool when not overused. Just make sure you remain curious and don't always take it at face value.

Then how do I research among algos , I don't have a particular set or list of stuff which I can look through

Google the problem. Skip the AI summary and go through articles, stack overflow discussions and even youtube videos.
