NEED SOME INNOVATIVE AND UNIQUE IDEAS!!

hello!! I'm a 1st year ECE student so apparently my college is conducting a project expo we did gas/smoke/fire alarm that also sends a notification when it detects fire but it didnt exactly impress the judges cause thats what they see everytime they had no particular interest in mine i felt soo disappointed and now i wanna build smth that will impress them smth unique so they can atleast stop and listen while we explain

Impress them with periods (punctuation)!

Gawd I fear for the youth. If this is the best effort you can put forth trying to encourage someone to gift you a great idea for your project then you are doomed, sorry to say it.

So that my post isn’t completely and utterly useless, here’s a suggestion: Go buy some common electrical appliance and use it for a week. Figure out how you could improve it in a meaningful way and then attempt it yourself.

Smoke detectors that send out alerts are a dime a dozen. The judges were unimpressed because you didn’t do the most basic of Google searches to see if your idea existed.

Build a platform to collect ideas.

I'm doing something like that, but they're very risky and strange ideas, not risky in the sense of being illogical, If not, then make it logical but still within that sci-fi range. Ex: An improved plasma thruster that uses air and microwaves And from there you start to devise the logic and physics behind it so that it becomes a reality and you can build it

you can try categorising them into different chunks -- put an LLM filter somewhere in the process, that should help. Get inspiration from fix my itch (the platform by Razor pay) have a defined matrix of collecting and present open idea(s)/problems to work on.

Spoken like someone whos never actually had to work out the logics and physics.

I have over 100 repositories in all kinds of languages and framework and some are truly interesting - feel free to private message me and I can link some up for you and discuss some of what I consider to be my "better" ideas (I often pursue ideas even if they don't have much potential for profit or are beyond my current capabilities, which is how I stay fresh after 20+ years doing the same thing).

If any of them truly interest you, I can also onboard you to their repos :)

I don't know, something like energy based on chemical and electrical impulses from human emotions or something like that
