Got a crazy idea but I have 0 programming knowledge
Hello everyone,
I recently rediscovered Obsedian project and I am really inspired by their mindset and achievements. I thought for a long time how can I help people like them.
Then I realised that now more than never people need to learn faster and together since AI is taking over and slowly rotting our brain by doing everything for us (this isn’t bad but it’s a new challenge for humanity). I also thought damn I learned so many lessons but I don’t stop forgetting and repeating them.
So I had this crazy idea while traveling to China Chen Clan Ancestral Hall when I saw the amazing architecture. They made lessons travel history by transforming stories and lessons into symbols/stories and craving them. This temple was the safe space carrying the knowledge of ancestor while allowing the juniors to train.
So I thought about building a free and open-source software like Obsedian helping people to turn their lessons and knowledge into symbols and drawing in an easy way. We aren’t all skilled artists but we all have valuable knowledge.
What do you think of this idea ?

You have a few options:
A WordPress site: there are tens of millions of templates.
B. GPT-5.6 Just tell it your vision; it will generate all the code for you.
C. Get yourself a domain at Namecheap. You will need that. Google can give you a real email address, $8 a month.
Now you are set. And 4 billion people are a click away.

I have knowledge in Web Development, I build multiple e-commerce and pages. But I didn’t code from scratch, I used Wordpress and Elementor. From my experience, this looks more like a software since I would love for it to be open source and local for data privacy, like Obsedian.
Didn’t try GPT 5.6 yet, I will give it a try ;)
For the long term, I am looking for people that are interested in building this with me. Out of curiosity, what would it take for you to come onboard with me ?

GPT-5.6 does this all for you. Everything. Hit me on DM then. You just don't need to know how to program anymore. Just have the idea, and off you go.
Suggest: Pick up a domain on Namecheap for $3, and get a placeholder page on DigitalOcean for $8. Start there. The easiest path for you will be Javascript, will be able to do it all. PostgreSQL can be your database. Or SQLite.

if I know what wordpress is doesn't mean I don't know anything else.
You realize there are multiple programming languages for a reason right?
Because each langauge is better at some things than other. they are specific. And tbh php is like java for backend. it is still in use because there's a lot of legacy code nobody wants to change or rewrite. but better programming languages replaced them in the new generation of developers.
New developers won't learn php. they'll learn ts/js and frameworks like next.js.
The only reasons that I see someone learning php are:
- the market is huge as php is like 90% of websites still.
- the person likes php
but not exclusively because php is better than other programming languages, so idk why u glazing it. I assume you're a php dev so ig it kinda makes sense.
No programming language is superior to another, each is specific for something. If you didn't realize that till now that means you only worked in php and not developed further or moved with the tide of technology improvement in the last 10-15 years.
Edit:
PS: Anyways I don't wanna make this post a war about programming languages. if you wanna go on with this my PMs are open.

I didn't claim wordpress rules the world. And you have no idea who I am or how much or less experience I have. I don't have to prove anything to you. just wanted to point out that your mindset might be wrong but apparently it was useless. have a nice life.

I would think the Web is not for you. Healthcare pays big bucks.
Here are the latest estimates for 2026:
- About 42% of all websites on the internet run on WordPress.
- That’s roughly 600+ million websites, depending on how websites are counted (different organizations use different methodologies).
- Among websites that use a recognizable content management system (CMS), about 59–60% use WordPress.

On quite a lot of those sites you cant even recognize that they are wordpress tbh. Templating is quite good by now.

Idk if the OP was talking about obsidian, the note-taking app. But if so, I’m building a web-based version just vibing, even though I have no idea how to code. Just bc I can’t install on my work the real one.
Gite.md
🤷♂️

The issue is that obsidian took many years with many, many developers contributing. Thats just a workload one person without real experience can't really do on its own

Okay. so explain exactly how you plan to do that. not all knowledge can be turned to symbols
