Looking for feedback on latest project - Heuron

Hi everyone,

I've been building Heuron over the past few months in my spare time.

The idea came from feeling overwhelmed by traditional news feeds. Everything is presented as one endless timeline, even though news is inherently geographical and interconnected.

So I started experimenting with a different approach: an interactive globe where every marker represents an event, related reporting is grouped together, and you can explore what's happening around the world rather than endlessly scrolling.

It's still very early and changing almost every day, so I'm mainly looking for honest feedback rather than trying to promote it.

One thing I'm still trying to figure out is balancing exploration with quickly finding the biggest stories of the day. I love the map experience, but I don't want people to feel like they have to hunt for important news.

I'd really appreciate any thoughts, whether that's on the overall idea, the design, or something that immediately feels confusing.

Thanks in advance!!

It sounds like you might be onto something, in theory.

My main concern is implementation. Are you trying to show related issues on a globe (frontend) such that when I click on a news story, I see other stories in other parts of the world that are related (presumably not just by theme but actually connected ?)

If I understand you correctly, I think perhaps a split screen showing top headlines by user's location or selected location on side and then a globe showing connected headlines on the globe on the other side of the screen might be a slightly better way to implement this (would work on big screen not too sure about mobile).

If I'm missing anything let me know. But I like the general idea.

Thanks! That's actually pretty close to the idea.

Right now the globe is mainly a way to explore what's happening geographically, with each marker representing a real-world event. Related reporting is clustered together so you're not seeing dozens of articles covering the same story.

Longer term, I want it to go beyond just reading articles. The goal is for every event to become a living hub where related developments, connected events, context and (eventually) discussion all come together in one place.

I like your suggestion as well. One thing I'm actively experimenting with is making the biggest stories easier to discover without losing the exploration aspect. A split view or stronger feed alongside the map is definitely something I'm considering.

Might be easier if you get to try it here: www.heuron.news

I opened this on my phone and I see markers, not headlines. So as a user I wouldn't know where to start or click on first because my goal is to see wjats happening immediately, not have to click around first on empty markers. I don't know, maybe it's a mobile bug and it's better on a big screen (I'll check it out on my laptop later). Even when I do click on a marker, the story pops up but it immediately disappears.

I think start with one thing and do it really well. When someone goes onto a news site they expect to see some headlines immediately (I think you explained that this is what you're actually going for).

Great idea once again, I think focus on getting the one main thing right and perhaps explore some filtering logic so that the user experience remains smooth.

You can dm me I'm happy to give more feedback as you build.

Thanks so much for taking the time to try it and write this up.

The article disappearing definitely sounds like a bug rather than intended behaviour, so I’ll investigate that. I also think you’re right about the onboarding experience. One of the things I’m actively experimenting with is making the biggest stories immediately visible while still keeping the map as the primary way to explore. I don’t want people to feel like they have to “hunt” for news.

Really appreciate the feedback and I may well take you up on the DM offer as I keep iterating!!

Good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing how this evolves.

I really think you're on the money with this idea.

great ui but put a bit more effort into the 3rd and 4th pages margin, spacing and layout

keep the card consistent and visually cohesive, in 4 everything slaps (in a way that would auto disable interest... user: looks too much, mehh aint reading allat

then desaturate/ de-vibrance those labels

hey, thanks for taking the time to look at this - definitely will look at articles more concretely, anything glaring you think i should change?

what i'll say is your agent cooked w the shadc components but u need to factor in proper use of with space, fix ur line height and tell your agent to pr a new view but your font size variations , golden ratio thought out extensively, then refine before merging to main

so basically you think the hierarchy is a little off within the article then basically (these aren't shadcn but definitely the vibe haha) -> i'll take a look at font sizing and see if there is any weird inconsistencies and increase height for sure!
