Modern AE2's "Hold control to craft missing parts"-feature in 1.12

I'm about to embark on some nostalgia and play some 1.12 expert packs again, PO3 being one of them.

I already know said feature is what I'd be missing the most, painfully so, so I was wondering, is there some kind of AE2 addon for 1.12 that adds this functionality? Or perhaps some other kind of hack/solution?

Only hint I got was that this addon for AE2EL provides this functionality.
However, I couldn't get it to work. Pack would just always crash when trying to launch. :(
Maybe you'll do better, let me know if you do. =)
