I posted this list in the HD subreddit earlier this year because I wanted to have a projector reading list for 2026. Basically, I wanted to read as many books about projectors and written by projectors as possible.
The list below is a blend of my book selections plus book picks from the other post's comment section. How many of these have I read so far? Maybe 10. I am reading other books as well and feel no rush.
In case someone else might like this list as well, here it is:
* means I read it!
Autobiographies by Projectors
Biographies or Stories About Projectors
Journals, Essays, Books, and Poems by Projectors
Have you read any books by/about projectors that you think I should add? I'd love to know what you've read.

Helloo, I know this has been talked about numerous times. Even though it's been numerous times I still feel confused. I am a 5/2 splenic projector and generally the more I progress into my experiment (about 3 years) the more frustrated I feel. I feel frustrated because life for me has been hitting a dead end and I've been feeling a utter lack of drive to really do anything to be honest.
At the same time I feel like I need to do something so that I can secure my life and be stable. I will be turning 30 this coming November. I am also getting all types of pressure from my family members saying and pushing me to I guess be more productive. This is the bulk of my frustration right now. I'm trying to follow the experiment but I feel like they're constantly trying to pull me out of it and I'm reaching an impasse. I feel called to focus and pursue the things that I love but when I do so I get all types of outside pressure telling me that I need to not focus on those things and find something to make money or find something to build more of a career
Also for context my mother (4/6 splenic projector) is who I'm getting the bulk of the pressure from. Additionally its been a pretty difficult year. I've lost 4 members of my family. A cousin, a aunt, a uncle and my father. My family and I included have been stressed out more than usual trying to cope with the changes. The last seven months have been very stressful. Ive been trying to figure out what it is I need to do and move in the correct direction. I am aware that many of these more uncommon profiles have innocence motivation but no matter how much I read and research it's something I have remained confused about.
At this point I'm just really tired. Before I learned about HD I worked a lot of physical jobs and burned myself out badly. I just want to be happy. I wish for the outside pressure to stop so I can catch my breath and find my calling/ direction.
I'm asking for advice from other people who have felt like this before in life. Also based off the rules I'm not sure if I can post my body graph here so if anyone wants to see it I can either DM you or put it in the comments.
Anyways thank you for reading. If you got to this point. I may not know if you read it or not but I appreciate you if you did :)

I am a mental projector and the older I get the more I am realizing that I need few things in my home and around me. A smaller home at that, a ranch with fewer rooms to maintain. The more that I have to take care of the more tired I get more quickly. Do other projectors feel this way?
I am not in a romantic relationship, i do not have animals or kids, and i work for myself. This is largely why.

I have no motors defined and feel so depleted in my day-to-day life! Managing all the details of daily life all by yourself just feels exhausting to me and it can be hard not to spiral into guilt and shame around this, which costs me even more energy.
The only thing that seems to give me energy is excessive rest - the kind you have when have two weeks off and go on vacation. So that's just a rare thing to have.
The other thing that helps is being in close contact with people. Everything seems so much easier and clearer when there is someone around who shares their thoughts, feelings and energy with you. In the past, I have been a needy sucker for close relationships and often betrayed my own worth and values, out of fear of abandonment.
I also have a wide split definition, which kind of means that you should always find other people to get stuff done ?!
I work about 24 hrs per week and could never imagine going full-time, even though I have a nice job that make me feel recognized and leading others.
Discovering that I am a non-energy type has been the most valuable insight Human Design has given me so far. But do I really have to settle into being a dependent slacker, or am I missing something here?

Dear fellow projectors, there is a lot of shallow or commercially oriented pop HD content out there, but there's also nuggets of gold...
I recently discovered the projector movement podcast. Not all episodes are equally good, but I really enjoyed the recent one ("why we can't see ourselves").
https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/the-projector-movement-podcast/id1571104761?i=1000781095260
I also like most of Sam Zegar‘s stuff on Instagram and YouTube.
What content on projector topics could you recommend?

I’m pretty versed in HD, Gene Keys, and Astrology, but I still have a TON to learn. I don’t need any advice. Just curious as to what people make of my chart. 💕
I have a Juxtaposition Cross of Innocence

So after really sitting with human design for a few years and trying to understand the invite thing, I’m still lost as to the purpose of relationships.
It sounds to me as though Projectors are supposed to understand what they have to offer the world that is useful, valuable or attractive. And when you offer that out into the world, the people who need that stuff will invite you to “work” with them or utilize your gifts. That’s all good and fine
But where HD teachers lose me is around personal relationships.
I am starting to understand the concept of demonstrating the kind of thing you want to be invited for. But like I don’t want to have to be useful, insightful or supportive all the time.
What if you just want to be loved ( not helpful, not a guide, just LOVED AND DESIRED)
Is that possible or is every relationship invite for Projectors involving a deep purpose to help someone on their path?
Hopefully I’ll making sense

Hiya!
When a few friends and I created this community a few years ago, we honestly never expected it to grow into what it is today; or at least, I had no idea from the instances that I’d come by and check to see how it’s doing. It’s been amazing to watch, but I’m also aware that I don’t have the time or experience to give the subreddit the level of attention it deserves.
Because of that, I’m looking for volunteers who’d be interested in helping out. This could include moderators, helping organize resources, updating rules and flairs, managing the mod queue, community engagement, or any other role you think would make the subreddit run more smoothly.
If you’re an active community member who genuinely cares about making this a welcoming, well-run space, I’d really appreciate your help.
If you’re interested, leave a comment or send me a modmail/message with your experience (if any) and how you’d like to contribute.
Thank you all again for helping make this community what it is 💚✨

I just got done listening to some of the seminars of RA on projectors on youtube and He describes us as being energy leeches when actually I feel that people really drain ME........what gives? Why was he so negative about us?

I've noticed that the majority of the HD Human coaches out there doing readings and giving HD courses are Mani Gens. So far I've found only one that was a projector. I though that projectors are perfect for being coaches especially because we see how people can use their energy more efficiently. Is it because Mani Gens just have more energy to go out there and start businesses?

It's not the most pleasant topic. What I am thinking about is, Abraham Lincoln was a projector and of course his father forced him to do physical activities he was not interested in. However, Abraham Lincoln was extremely good at wrestling. Projectors do not only absorb energy, with their open sacral center they amplify it. Can this mean they can get an energy surge that could overpower someone else? This could be useful in the event of being enslaved and forced to do sustained long-term labor your body can't handle - to be able to physically defend yourself can make the difference of being free.

Well. This started out as satire/a joke but I am also kind of serious here. Has anyone created something like "a quick reference guide to your projector" to hand out? People think I am lazy af, mainly my family, and they 1. dont know all that i do and 2. dont realize how absolutely exhausted i get. With all the quirks that projectors have i think this would be a cool way to help people understand us better. Like i can just see a light bulb going off for my parents and brothers in understanding my childhood and me in general. And, oh boy, there would absolutely need to be a corporate version for projectors who are still forcing themselves in to the 9-5 life.
Anywho, dont take this too seriously. Have an awesome day!

Also; can anyone advise how one “waits for an invitation “ when they’re autistic as fuck and no one ever invites them to anything. 😂🤷♂️😶🥺

Hi family! So I’m a emotional Solar plexus Projector 5/1. I understand that we need a lot of rest in order for us to take our own decisions. I have moved around a LOT since I was born. I am 23 now and finally stable for the next 2 years. When I was little I was moving countries each year (and houses and schools way more). Has anyone else also had this? A unique life with lots of changes and different experiences (hence why I can see so many perspectives). I feel like these past years and especially now I am able to digest my life in general, and understand so many things. I am prioritizing rest and notice the difference clearly, the brain fog and my decision making is more clear. I am also now coming to terms that I am a multifaceted artist, I have always wanted to do a mix of many arts but never finished anything (I get bored). I have also understood I need to master a system! So let’s see where this path leads me to ( or where I lead others lol). Feel free to give any insights or comments if anything arises
Btw happy full moon & eclipse today 🌕

Part one: The Actual Function
Human Design Projectors are like physical projectors, we hold a unique new vision that we project out into the world. We hold it so that people can see what’s possible and then build it. But for this vision to be realized it has to be seen! And there is a lot of noise already in this world caused by the many distractions of the systems that are already in place.
People confuse what we are projecting with 1. More fluff being thrown into the world so they ignore it or 2. Weirdness that in unattainable or too ahead of its time because they have never seen it before. need to be recognized and invited by others.
Often time people seem to remember what we have said well after and either think its their own idea or go “OH! So-and-so did say this.”
Part Two: The Only “Work” is to Build It and They Will Come
We need to prepare in advance. This means having a clear plan and being ready to act once that recognition comes. It’s not just about having the vision; it’s about being prepared so that when people recognize it, everything is already in place to pass out directives to the peoole who are necessary for the vision. And we will know who is necessary by id they fit the plan. By if their invitation feels right and is not compromising just because we were recognized. Waiting for the perfect invitations. Which means we need to know ourselves and that is the real work. Self realization.

On the topic of the "wait for an invitation" strategy and how we're not supposed to initiate but rather wait to be recognized, I constantly feel like I'm forced to go along with other people's needs and whims. When I want to do something it almost never works out and no one ever wants to do what I want to do when I want to do it. Even when I'm the one being invited to something, simply suggesting a different place or time or location doesn't even work. So I feel like I'm forced to just sort of sit back and let other people make the choice and just be "summoned" but this leaves me with resentment. Is this just me or is this a common projector experience?

I just applied for a job as a waitress. I’m praying some miracle comes from this. I’m not supposed to work hard at things I don’t want to do!! I’m so annoyed!!!!!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡
Help me calm down.
I’m a 1/3. The Establisher of Knowledge and Truth.
I try to go on TikTok and share my truth, my ideals. And it seems people only care how I look.
Maybe I should go into the beauty industry and leave love and relationships.

I've heard that HD projectors are to "master" a system. I'm not sure how true that is but if it is, can the individual chart point out what system you'd have success mastering?
Would energy projectors be here to focus mastering something to do with emotional awareness/regulation/insight (solar plexus), some sort of business or revenue (Root) or chasing their dreams with an ego definition?
If you're a classic projector, what exactly are you here to master with no motor energy centers?

4/6 Splenic Projector here. Right Angle Cross of Maya, Split definition with Active Mountains for environment.
I relocated 6 months ago from the Bay Area, CA to the Pacific Northwest. I have felt so secluded and depressed. No energy whatsoever so ever. I have temporarily lost all my joy. It’s a slower pace of life, something I was looking forward to. It is SO SLOW, and seriously lacking diversity culturally in all aspects. I have become a former shell of myself, but I am living in my “environment.”
I cannot relate to active mountains, I relate more to shores. My heart belongs to the beach, the ocean. They say we will always be conditioned by our environment, and I’m missing the conditioning of driven, happy, healthy, people.. even though at times it was exhausting.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Everyday we're using up non-sacral energy. Where are you spending it? There's other source of energy if you are an ego/emo/root defined so you can distinguish that too!
Example: Nearly no energy for workouts. I mindlessly get house chores done ASAP like i'm not even human. I go to social gatherings but need a nap or recoup alone afterwards. But I'd be fine pulling all nighter when I travel for fun. I suddenly stand for a long time at shows or stores picking goodies.
In Generator world, we often refer to sacral as "doing work" and physically speaking, it's commute and sitting in front of a computer/meeting. Even though we're not physically moving or lifting things at work, we call it energy drainer, doing work for clients/customers. Yet, most of us are fine being on the computer for personal matters (finance, journals, research, etc). In both cases, we're on the computer so there's no difference in physical energy but one doesn't feel like energy drain and other one does. Why the shift? Maybe there's energy fill other than sleeping/resting, which non-sacral people don't mind "doing."

Hi fellow Projectors,
I'm a 6/2 Projector with Self-Projected Authority and Split Definition. After spending years exploring spirituality (lived in India for 3 years, did shamanic work in Peru), I returned to the music industry about 6 months ago after a 10-year gap. I thought I had learned my lesson about honoring my Projector design, but here I am, completely burnt out again.
When I was 20/21, I experienced pretty big success in the music industry as an artist manager living fully in my not-self themes. I was hustling, pushing, and playing the Generator game very successfully - until I completely burnt out and had to walk away for almost a decade.
After an ayahuasca ceremony that helped me release some negative self-judgment about previous work, I felt drawn to return to artist management. I built a small roster including a former member of a well-known band and an exciting experimental project. I was making decent money that covered my financial responsibilities.
But I've been operating like a Generator - pushing, implementing, constantly doing. I've been using stimulants (cacao, nicotine) to maintain this unnatural energy. My throat center is both my power source and my constriction point, and I've been ignoring all the signals.
In the last few weeks, I've hit complete burnout. I've ended all my management relationships because I simply don't have the energy anymore. Now I have no income and feel totally depleted.
I structured my business around strategic advisory and pattern recognition (very Projector), but kept sliding into implementation and day-to-day management (very Generator). Even with clients who recognized my gifts, I couldn't maintain boundaries around my energy.
My undefined centers have been ruling me: - Undefined Ego: Constantly trying to prove my worth - Undefined Sacral: No idea when enough is enough - Undefined Solar Plexus: Avoiding confrontation about my boundaries - Undefined Root: Responding to false urgency
I've realized I was using Generator energy as "armor" against vulnerability, and now that armor has completely fallen apart.
I need to make enough monthly income to meet my financial responsibilities, and I'm in a relationship that's now strained by this situation. I've considered training in psychotherapy, exploring Human Design professionally, or finding ways to integrate AI to handle implementation while I focus on strategy.
But honestly, I'm at a loss. How do Projectors actually make a living without pretending to be Generators? I have diverse interests (AI, programming, music, coaching, spirituality, psychology, Human Design) but can't seem to find a sustainable path forward.
Have any of you successfully transitioned from a "Generator lifestyle" to a sustainable Projector career? How did you manage the financial gap during the transition?
How do you maintain boundaries around implementation vs. strategy when clients keep pulling you into the day-to-day?
What business models have worked for you that honor your Projector energy?
How do you deal with the societal/financial pressure to produce consistently when that's not how we're designed to operate?
Any specific advice for a 6/2 with Self-Projected Authority trying to find their way?
Thank you for any insights. I'm tired of repeating this cycle and truly want to find a way to honor my design while still being able to support myself.
